Tony Drago[edit]
ResolvedThe players, who remain on the Main Tour, are decided by the prize money rankings list, and not by the points rankings list. This World Snooker article explicitly says:
The following players will keep their place on the tour:
- Those ranked inside the top 64 on the two-year prize money list (NOT the ranking points list) following the 2014 World Championship
- Those on the first year of a two-year tour card.
and
The following players will be issued a new two year tour card:
- The top eight on the European Tour Order of Merit, not already qualified as above.
Drago is currently 88th on the Provisional End-of-Season Money List, and therefore he can't retain his place via the "ranking list". Also the BBC article says that he "will earn another two seasons on the main tour", which means he will receive a two year Tour Card. - This is correct. Drago is outside of the top 64 on the money list so can only qualify for a card through the PTC Order of Merit (he's currently in 8th place) or Q School. The BBC wasn't fully correct either: if Kyren Wilson had had won two matches that would have pushed Jimmy White out of the top 64 and Luca Brecel down to 64th place, and since Jimmy is below Drago in the PTC that wouldn't have cost Drago his place; however, if one of the other two players in the draw (Robin Hull and Michael Wasley) had also moved ahead of Brecel, Brecel would have qualified via the PTC and Drago would have lost his place. As it stands now, only Michael Wasley is left in the draw, so Luca Brecel can't drop out of the top 64 on the money list which means that the PTC tour card order is set now with Drago guaranteed a 2-year tour card. Pankaj Advani[edit]
Pankaj Advani has withdrawn his pro status therefore the tour will be made up of 130 players after the African nomination rather than 131. ★☆ DUCKISJAMMMY☆★ 12:10, 25 June 2014 (UTC)
- He is still on World Snooker's provisional list, and this IBSF article doesn't mention when he relinquished his Main Tour place. Therefore I don't think we should removed him until WS release an updated list. Armbrust The Homunculus 14:09, 25 June 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, I agree, sort of why I made the post here rather than editing the page. I think I'll drop World Snooker an email ask them to update the list and clarify the Advani situation. ★☆ DUCKISJAMMMY☆★ 15:28, 25 June 2014 (UTC)
- Should it not now be reworded to 128 professional players and top 63 players following the confirmation he relinquished his place on the tour and resigned his WPBSA membership. After all he didn't play a part in the season even prior to his resignation. Lastly it looks like the General Cup will take place this season not sure where to pencil it in. ★☆ DUCKISJAMMMY☆★ 06:03, 25 September 2014 (UTC)
- No need to reword it. Advani only relinquished his Tour Card mid-season, thus he was a professional until then. He was even listed in every rankings lists until the Shanghai Masters. Colours on tournament lists[edit]
In the tournament lists on season pages such as this one, on my monitor at least, the pale grey-blue used for "other events", and the slightly paler blue-grey used for the main ranking events, are difficult to distinguish. Could better-differentiated colours be chosen instead? -- Walnuts go kapow (talk) 22:21, 9 February 2015 (UTC)
