Non-free use of File:2010 Irwin Tools Night Race logo.jpg[edit]

File:2010 Irwin Tools Night Race logo.jpg should not really be used in this article per No. 14 of WP:NFC#UUI because non-free logos of the sponsors of perennial events are not allowed to be used in articles about individual occurrences of said events (except perhaps where the logo is used for the first time). Something specific to year's race should be used instead. Perhaps this image from the Go Speedway World website could be used in the infobox. It's specific to this year's race and probably is what is going to be used on T-shirts, etc. sold by the organizers of the race. There is also this image of the official event from here could also be possibly used. Since both of these include the date of this year's race, they are unique enough to satisfy No. 14 of NFC#UUI. Only one of the two is needed per WP:NFCC#3a, but either one could work in my opinion. - Marchjuly (talk) 03:00, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Marchjuly: If you know how to upload these on Commons with the proper copyright tags, feel free to do so. I've had so much trouble uploading these race logos with the proper copyright tags.--Nascar king 20:57, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the rresponse Nascarking. I don't mind uploading a logo, but I think it should be uploaded locally to Wikipedia as non-free since it is likely that each image is protected by copyright and Commons only accepts "freely licensed" content. I don't think both images are needed, however, per WP:NFCC#3a. Is there any preference? The only thing I'm not 100% sure about is whether these items are official race merchandise and not just somebody trying to make a buck off the race's name on the side. I can't image the organizers not being aware of Gospeedway and what they're selling so I think it's OK use either image to represent to race. Regarding the rationale and licensing, I think that using {{Non-free use rationale logo}} for the non-free use rationale and then adding {{non-free logo}} and {{trademark}} tags to the licensing should work. - Marchjuly (talk) 21:37, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Marchjuly: I was able to upload File:2015 Irwin Tools Night Race logo.jpg with no problem. But would you care to double check it to make sure I didn't forget anything important?--Nascar king 21:51, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I tried tweaking the non-free rationale a bit to make it more specific to the image and this article. If you notice any mistakes, feel free to correct them as needed. Finally, after taking a closer look at the two images I linked above, the only reservation I have about the "event pin" image is that it also includes the Bristol Motor Speedway's logo. File:Bristol Motor Speedway.svg is licensed as non-free which might mean that a non-free use rationale for its use in this article is also needed. The "t-shirt" logo does not have any such issues (the additional text and checkered-flag background are too simple to be protected by copyright), so it may actually turn out to be a better option. I think it might be a good idea to discuss this at WP:NFCR just to see what others think. - Marchjuly (talk) 01:29, 19 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
