Context and sourcing needed[edit]

Note that under normal circumstances, we would not ordinarily do a standalone article about an individual by-election at the municipal level — even at the provincial and federal levels, we typically do merged "all by-elections during the entire legislative session" omnibus articles rather than standalone articles for each individual by-election. Ordinarily, rather, a municipal by-election would just get a small subsection in the article on the preceding regular election, not a standalone article as a separate topic.

What makes this one a potential special case, however, is the fact that it also involved the entire school board following a pretty significant controversy. So what's necessary to make this article suitable for inclusion is some actual substance and reliable sourcing about the background on why the entire school board was up for a special by-election — it is not a suitable topic for a standalone article just because you can technically reference it to raw tables of the election results on the city's own website. We require context sourced to media coverage for why anybody needs to care, not just "this happened, the end", for an article to become warranted. Bearcat (talk) 18:37, 24 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
