Tahir "record"[edit]

It was claimed that Tahir was the first spinner to open the bowling in a WC match. Turns out this was the 11th time a spinner bowled the first over of the match, and the 21st time the first over of an innings : Statsguru. It may have been the first time a spinner opened the bowling in a World Cup opening game, but I'm not sure that is worthy of mention. Ask Steven Spike 'em (talk) 15:43, 4 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Cross table[edit]

For the love of organisation, someone please put a cross table in there that shows which teams have already played which team and the results, akin to this :

unfinished matches?[edit]

What happens with those unfinished matches? One match was cancelled and other abandoned. Is there a later time for them or are those left unplayed? That would be strange table, four teams with one match less than others. 109.240.192.133 (talk) 08:11, 11 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

There is a reserve day for knockout games but if group games are rained off, then it is recorded as No Result and the teams share the points (as had already happened on the points table). Spike 'em (talk) 08:35, 11 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Live scores[edit]

They are inappropriate, inaccurate, and not encyclopedic in any way. WP:LIVESCORES is also rather clear on this, and whether the sport is snookers, or football (see the linked discussion at Template:Editnotices/Page/2019 FIFA Women's World Cup), or cricket, or, I don't know, Synchronised swimming or whatever, the same policy applies. 107.190.33.254 (talk) 13:45, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Let's keep this in one place. WP:CRIC consensus is to update scores at intervals, and a decision made on snooker or football does not hold here. Spike 'em (talk) 13:47, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Could you link to that decision? I don't see it on the main page. And my point, oddly enough, was that the decision made for football should also hold for cricket (since it is subject to the same problems) 107.190.33.254 (talk) 13:49, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Why should a decision made in a different project that many of the editors will have had no knowledge or input hold in a different set of circumstances? If there is a WP:SPORT consensus not to do this, then I can see that holding, but not from a different sport. I'll have a look for a formal consensus, but it is certainly maintained as a de facto standard. Spike 'em (talk) 13:54, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I've started a discussion at WT:CRIC#Live scores on this. Spike 'em (talk) 13:58, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Coloured / colored text[edit]

As per WP:Manual of Style (text formatting)#Color: Prose text should never be manually colored, so don't try to highlight progression (or elimination) by use of coloured text. Spike 'em (talk) 08:45, 1 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Equalling the most 50+ scores[edit]

Does anyone find the info in the Pakistan-Bangladesh match of Shakib Al Hasan equalling Sachin Tendulkar's record of most 50+ scores just a bit trivial? If it was centuries, I'd have no issue, but 50s? And not breaking the record, just equalling it. Just because a few news-stat sites report it doesn't mean it needs to be replicated here. Thoughts? Move discussion in progress[edit]

There is a move discussion in progress on Talk:Cricket World Cup which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 22:22, 16 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
