February 23?[edit]

I work for the House of Representatives. I can find no source that the date for Biden’s joint address is February 23. The Speaker has not yet sent the President an invitation. Ric (talk) 23:31, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The one source listed clearly states "This date has not been confirmed." Again, as of February 5, the Speaker has not yet send the President an invitation. Ric (talk) 19:15, 5 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Strong Support because the month in unnecessary unless he gives multiple addresses to joint sessions this year (per WP:NCEVENTS). Also move February 2017 Donald Trump speech to joint session of Congress to 2017 Donald Trump speech to joint session of Congress. Both of these seem to be blindly and incorrectly following the formatting of February 2009 Barack Obama speech to joint session of Congress, except there was another in September of that year, which is the only reason February is in the title. --eduardog3000 (talk) 18:02, 25 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yes it is in contradiction with what Biden said and I definitely remember reading the Feb date, and Feb 23 in particular, awhile back. However I think more recent info including where we are on the calendar and the Psaki briefing should prevail re naming the article.^[1] Dash77 (talk) 20:37, 25 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Strong Support It seems virtually impossible, given the planning that needs to take place for such an event, that the event would happen in February now with no such planning in evidence as yet. However the Psaki briefing on the 16th does seem to suggest some form of the event will eventually happen, but not this month, so the proposed name change is appropriate.^[1] Dash77 (talk) 20:31, 25 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

There's no joint session[edit]

If you look at the first reference provided, Jen Psaki says, "We don’t know where the February 23rd date came from. It’s a great mystery. I’ve not Nancy Drew-ed that one out yet, but it was never planned to be in February and we don’t have a date for a joint session at this point." It's probably best to delete this draft. It was made on the assumption that a session would occur as it has been done under previous administrations, but due to the pandemic, it most likely won't happen at all in 2021. --WikiCleanerMan (talk) 23:42, 5 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

There is no rush to delete this and nobody knows for sure when this will happen but there is still reports that the join session may happen in April after the stimulus is passed, according to NBC News. survivor[edit]

Who was the highest-ranking constitutional officer absent? Whoever that was, is the designated survivor, whether designated or not, since they would assume the powers of the Presidency in the event of an attack. Should be pretty easy to narrow down. For example, in 2010, Shaun Donovan, the H.U.D. Secretary, was designated but Hillary Clinton, as Secretary of State, was absent, attending a diplomatic function overseas.
