Inclusion in WikiProject Terrorism[edit]
I am somewhat puzzled by the inclusion of this article in WikiProject Terrorism. I have accepted its inclusion in good faith but, I am not clear on who is being accused of being terrorists. To me this article appears to be about an incident during an armed conflict between government and rebel forces. There doesn't seem to be any terror-inducing aspect of the general population. Can someone enlighten me as to how terrorism is involved, by amending the article to better explain this aspect of the incident, and it's included in WikiProject Terrorism. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 09:14, 7 May 2023 (UTC)
- The Philippine government has long considered the New People's Army as a terrorist group, that is the rationale for the inclusion even this particular incident is not really a terrorist attack/incident against a non-rebel civilian population. So I think this is at least adjacent to the project's scope. Hariboneagle927 (talk) 02:21, 4 June 2023 (UTC)
- @Hariboneagle927: Thanks for the explanation. As a reader who knows nothing about the New People's Army, the article should mention that is considered a terrorist group. I found that I had to stop reading about this event to read through the article about the "New People's Army" to discover that information. When writing about these sorts of separatist groups, one should put the reader first and assume I do not know that important fact, so that I do not have to waste my time finding it out by reading a whole different article, first. If one wants to add a WikiProject to the talk page, the article should demonstrate why it is included within the project's scope, without needing to refer to any other articles. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 02:48, 4 June 2023 (UTC)
- Alright, point was taken. I have added a bit of background about the insurgency and the relevant terrorist designations on this very article now. Hariboneagle927 (talk) 20:29, 5 June 2023 (UTC)
