Jonny Evans[edit]

Who is messing about with the Jonny Evans entries? He should be on the list of transfers, as well as currently having number 27, despite only being on a short term deal. Also, his signing has no bearing on the statistic of not having any Ferguson players unless he signs a longer term deal, as well as there being no need to remove the reference to 50 years of Ferguson associated players, but I will wait until we know his future before adding that again. Numbers worn in pre-season are not official. It is unlikely Evans will be retained beyond pre-season, but if he is, we will assign him a squad number when the club confirm he has been registered with one for competitive matches. – PeeJay 11:46, 26 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, agreed about the squad number, but the transfer should still be on the list, even though it is short term. Wolfbane88 (talk) 07:00, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I see it has been added Wolfbane88 (talk) 07:00, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Improvement[edit]

I want to add more sections like overall record and matches in details

Also we can add section for clean sheets or maybe one for monthly awards.

I can start work on them but I won't spend time then @PeeJay revert them :) Eng.kika 09:42, 15 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I like overall record, however matches in detailes may be too much. Monthly awards you mean given by club? I don't thinnk it's necessary. Red Devil (talk) 07:49, 16 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I added the overall record but @PeeJay reverted it.
I agree with you that matches in detail is too much but it added in Manchester city season page and many other teams. Eng.kika 19:35, 18 August 2023 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eng kika (talkcontribs)
Just because something is on another page doesn't mean it should be here. You need to provide a good reason why it should be added, and I don't think that was provided for those other pages, so it's no use pointing at them as your reason. What is your reason for adding any of this stuff? It all seems to fail WP:FANCRUFT to me. – PeeJay 23:52, 18 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. Maybe I'm just confusing a little bit. so please let me explain what I understand here. The football club season page's main purpose is to show all the activities of this team throughout this season including matches, records, players, transfers, etc...
So depending on my understanding, the overall record section as an example should be added because it added a real value. After all, the current structure doesn't provide a win ratio or a summary of the team across all the competitions which is valuable information on this topic.
Anyway, I tried to find some rules about what should and what shouldn't include on the football club season page but I couldn't find anything. please guide me on that.

First, please sign your messages properly, using the four tildes (~~~~). Second, can you please explain why you think an overall summary of the team's season across all competitions is so valuable? We already have their league record in a table, so that's not needed, and cup competitions are basically "you win until you lose", so the win-loss record is pretty irrelevant. A summary table is a way of comparing apples with oranges, hence completely pointless. – PeeJay 10:27, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
```A summary table is a way of comparing apples with oranges,```
It's not about comparing, It's all about gathering this information together to give us the overall record for team performance
Anyway, Agree to disagree. it's fine
Squad statistics[edit]
No one seems to be able to agree about what way to present players who left during the season. It seems to me there are three options:
  1. Include all players in squad number order even after departure
  2. Included departed players in a separate section at the bottom of the table
  3. Remove departed players
In my opinion, the third option only applies if the player leaves the club before any competitive matches have taken place. Therefore, the likes of Eric Bailly, Dean Henderson and Teden Mengi should be included in the table (in some form), even though they didn't make any appearances. Henderson was named on the bench for United's first three games of the season, after all! If the player leaves before competitive matches begin (e.g. Fred), there is no point in listing them since they were ineligible to make any competitive appearances (what with them having left and all!) And of course, all of this only applies to players who have been registered to play in first-team matches for the season (for which we need a source), so the departures of Ondrej Mastny and Logan Pye have no effect on this list. – PeeJay 10:08, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Support. I agree with you and Henderson is a good example, he took part in the game by being listed on the matchsheet. In my opinion, the list should stay the way it is now, with certain players available since the first game of the season. There would be only problem if a new arrival would get the same number as a player who had already left - then we can have discussion how to deal with that.
Players who were with the team, but didn't make any appearance before leaving - should be listed, as they were eligble for appearance. If they left before first game, no need to put them on the list. Red Devil (talk) 06:31, 15 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
We actually had a similar issue to that when Ronaldo returned in 2021. Daniel James left the club, allowing Cavani to take number 21, and Ronaldo took number 7. All we did was add a couple of notes to say that Cavani wore number 7 until a certain date, then Ronaldo took it over, and that Daniel James had worn 21 before Cavani. Pretty simple solution. – PeeJay 11:49, 15 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
