Station 2BD[edit]

Have moved the article to 2BD, which is in line with similar articles (2BE, 2LO, 5IT) dealing with the BBC's earliest stations, and because the station was referred to in its time as 2BD, never "Aberdeen Radio". Have also corrected and amplified other info regarding the station's transmission history (MW, not SW, for example). -- Picapica (talk) 14:49, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Explanation for edit to information on the BBC's location in Aberdeen: The BBC had moved to their existing location at Beechgrove Terrace some considerable time before the new building opened in 2000 (sorry but I don't know the exact date). The new building was erected alongside the old, which was subsequently demolished and the land sold off as flats. Around the same time the old BBC club which stood on the same site was demolished, and the 'Beechgrove Garden' moved to another site to the west of Aberdeen. 132.185.240.120 (talk) 12:44, 27 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The link to an article in the online edition of Leopard Magazine – the source of no fewer than eight of the article's current references – no longer works, unfortunately. Will look for others. In the meantime, may I mention that it's untrue to say that "'2BD' was last heard from in 1929". The station continued to be known by that name until 8 March 1930 (after which date the BBC ceased using station call-signs in its announcements). Furthermore, Aberdeen continued to broadcast its own, separate programme items – albeit as a progressively shrinking proportion of its total on-air hours – within what was known as "the Aberdeen programme" right up until 1 September 1939, when, in preparation for war, all of the BBC's domestic stations were fused into a single "Home Service". -- Picapica (talk) 19:57, 16 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
