So, does 2YYY actually exist in any real way? Or is it still an aspirant group. Sounds like it got served by being pseudo-commercial. If this station/s don't have permanent licences, do they need a wikipedia entry? 114.72.205.187 (talk) 10:18, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

2YYY has been running for 4 years as a Community station (and is now just running as an online station as of Sunday) and just because that it doesn't have a permanent license it doesn't mean that there should be can article. 92.3 Young FM (YDAC) will most likely be included in the article as I see no need for a new article. Before the 30 June 2009 deadline we will know more on who will get or not get a temporary/permanent license to continue broadcasting. Bidgee (talk) 10:59, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the update - I note that this page hasn't been updated to reflect the latest. Is anyone from 2YYY or YDAC able to bring us up to date? The latest I found was a newspaper article that mention bomb threats (!) had been made. I've seen aspirant squabbles since the early 90's - never seen bomb threats before. The occassional abusive phonecall, AVO, and death threats yes (Tamworth and Narrabri being great examples of the above)AND plenty of newspaper battles (2ARM obvious one) but bomb threats were a surprise. (I suspect a little beat up by local media, but seeing as I don't live anywhere nearby, I can't verify.)114.72.153.4 (talk) 03:53, 7 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Just a quick comment Since I'm currently in Canberra until Satuday night. There is one story on the Young's local news paper site (Can't recall the paper's namr and don't have the url as this was a few days ago) as well as Prime and WIN News but I've not been in the mood to add the lastest stuff as if been editing other articles and also been busy in real life. Going through the ACMA findings, the submissions and what YDAC have put forward... it appears unlikely that 2YYY will actually get a fulltime licence. They simply don't fit the required participation model of community radio. Programming for alternative, not otherwise catered for sections of the community.. YYY have no programming sub-committee, policies or surveys, with a strong penchant for country music aimed at over 60's.

My take on it? Go YDAC!!!! However, Wikipedia is not the forum for my obviously biased view - I don't live in Young, so I can't comment on YDAC's programming. However, their organisational structure is far far far far better that YYY. 114.72.220.242 (talk) 06:59, 29 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
