To be used[edit]

The Fantasitron attraction located at the miniature park Madurodam is an example of professional 3D photo booths. Guests step into the booth and have their pictures taken in a mere second. 3D models are then generated by software, and sent to offsite, dedicated 3D printing companies such as Shapeways where 3D selfies are printed, often over many hours. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ‎ Fred Hsu (talkcontribs) 06:18, December 23, 2017 (UTC)

That material had been challenged. It is currently unsourced, and it is WP:UNDUE to include it even if it were sourced. Why should this article discuss one particular company's implementation? This appears to be promotional material for the park and the processing company. Meters (talk) 06:28, 23 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Title[edit]

I don't think this article is appropriately titled. This is not a 3D selfie any more than hiring someone to take a picture of you would be a 2D selfie. "Selfie" means that you take the image yourself. I'm not sure what this application of 3D scanning and processing should be called, but 3D selfie is not it. We, as Wikipedians, don't get to choose to name things. It it not our job to reason about whether the global zeitgeist stumbled on the wrong label for the right thing. That is what references are for. I appreciate the help. I wrote this article because I stumbled upon this thing, and had a hard time naming it when I talked to people. After extensive research, it is apparent that the industry is coalescing on the label "3D selfie", whereas various outlets used to named them mini-mes, 3D figurines, 3D portraits, etc. If it were up to me, I'd say "3D portraits" is more accurate. In any case, the content is more important at this point. If we move the content I am creating here over to 3D portrait in the future, and make 3D selfie redirect to it. That's fine. I created 3D portrait as well, at the same time I did this one. Thanks for your attention. Fred Hsu (talk) 17:48, 23 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Removing ref improve[edit]

I am removing the "ref improve" macro. Everything in this short stub is not properly referenced.

I plan to expand it further, talking about various aspects of this process. I will probably reference specific companies and products. If I do I will make it balanced so it does not appear to be an ad or spam. It is a hard balance to strike. All additions will come with references. If I can't find objective references I won't add new content. Thanks. Fred Hsu (talk) 17:54, 23 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
