Ad?[edit]

It doesn't read like an ad to me.

Well, it did. I just cleaned up the article yet retained references to the non-proprietary software. DJ Rubbie 07:09, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate the references to programs that can work with these files.

Video site advertisements[edit]

Please stop posting them. DJ Rubbie 04:42, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Removed another site link to a commercial interest only site. This site offers very little in information and uses initial free downloads with embeds to push sales.(mv3[dot]com) Lightertack 12:48, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

3G phones?[edit]

In the first sentence, it says "for use on 3G Mobile Phones." Shouldn't this be changed to just "Mobile Phones"? Solidsnake204 17:23, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

Included newer and higher-end phones. Really, anything priced over 150 USD in GSM markets generally supports the format, so maybe it should even be changed to non-entry-level/budget phones. Suggest a vote. Aadieu (talk) 23:39, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

3gp converter[edit]

Why has the 3gp converter page been deleted? Solidsnake204 11:23, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

We are surprised too. www.3GP.com is the number one page on 3GP players & converters, why was it removed from the links? Liqua, 20 December 2006

Download decoder?[edit]

where? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.66.102.89 (talk) 17:26, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Loads of places. Hit it up in a search engine. Considering what can be perceived as Apple's apparent attempts to dominate this article and make it look like an Apple standard - I must note that it is not. I've personally owned GSM and GSM+3G phones that supported it years before Apple ever entered the handset market. Aadieu (talk) 23:43, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

video/audio formats[edit]

i wish i could make sense of the usage of the the format in MegaBytes per minute, for example— so as to compare it to others... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.112.142.35 (talk) 04:27, 29 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's a container format so size is pretty much irrelevant. It is notable for supporting many speech audio codecs, like AMR. Owing to its heritage, it'll be very similar to MOV and MP4. C xong (talk) 01:19, 26 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dead link[edit]

During several automated bot runs the following external link was found to be unavailable. Please check if the link is in fact down and fix or remove it in that case!

.3ga extension[edit]

What about unofficial but quite broadly used .3ga extension for 3GP files with audio only? It is like .m4a for MP4 files. Is it worth mentioning in article? 94.254.192.57 (talk) 16:09, 25 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This article needs a history section. When was 3GP created and why, what is its status and usage now, etc.
