Release Dates (!)[edit]

Some of the album release dates on this page are inconsistent with those posted on the individual album pages.

Here's what I mean...

  • Paint by Number
    • The band's official website lists the release date as 1998.
    • This article lists the release date as 1999.
    • The copyright year on the actual CD case is 2000.
    • The album page lists the release date as March 1, 2001.
  • Half Life
    • This article, as well as the band's official website, list the release date as 2001.
    • The album page lists the release date as December 17, 2002.

I'd say we should just go with the official site's release dates, but I have a feeling they're wrong. Their site says Paint by Number came out in 1998, but the CD case says 2000. Their site also says that Joey Eppard's solo album, Been to the Future, came out in 2000, but the CD case says 2002. In any case, we need to get these release dates straightened out. --Wikivader 02:01, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, AMG gives two different dates for Paint by Numbers release[1]. I'm not sure which date to pick either. AMG gives only one date for Half Life, December 3, 2002, but I'd go with the official site's date. I am the creator of both pages in question and took the release information from the online store here, which is run by AMG. I figured that the data would be reliable, but evidently I was wrong. I would go with the dates on the artist's website, since their albums have been continuously rereleased over various music labels, it would probably be the safest course of action. Fair use rationale for Image:3theband.jpg[edit]

Image:3theband.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.Betacommand (talkcontribsBot) 05:17, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notability Assertion[edit]

As you've all probably noticed, the article has been tagged by DreamGuy for possible non-notability issues, and now we have to establish notability as per Wikipedia:Notability (music). I'll go through the criteria now, and confirm what I can. If you have anything to add that would help satisfy notability requirements, please post.

1) "It has been the subject of multiple non-trivial published works whose source is independent from the musician/ensemble itself and reliable."
The band does have its own article on All Music Guide (which is specifically mentioned on Wikipedia: Notability (music) as a reliable source). The AMG page is already linked in the article. Some of the other links under "External links" and "Notes" seem to be reliable sources, as well, unless all of those websites are considered "trivial." Hopefully, more articles will not be hard to find, when I have time to do it.
5) "Has released two or more albums on a major label or one of the more important indie labels (i.e. an independent label with a history of more than a few years and a roster of performers, many of which are notable)."
When The End is Begun is released, the band will have two full-length albums on Metal Blade Records (which qualifies as a "more important indie label" since it does have its own Wikipedia article as well as a long list of artists, and former artists, many of which are now very famous). Even though The End is Begun will not be released until July 24, it would be ridiculous to delete the page now when the notability requirement will be clearly fulfilled in a little more than a month.
6) "Contains at least one member who was once a part of or later joined a band that is otherwise notable; note that it is often most appropriate to use redirects in place of articles on side projects, early bands and such."
Josh Eppard, a former member of 3, later joined Coheed and Cambria, a band that is obviously notable.

These are the only criteria that I can confirm on the spot, without looking for further information to add to the article. So, I might expand on this post later, and I encourage others to do the same. However, these points (especially #5) seem to confirm notability already. If no one can refute any of these points, or give further reasons that the band is not notable, I will remove the Notability tag on this article at the end of the month. --Wikivader 03:07, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hybrid band?[edit]

What's a hybrid band? Sounds like something some 13 year old made up.... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.224.115.100 (talk) 12:51, 8 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Joey Eppard calls the band such on his myspace page as noted on the wiki entry. A hybrid band is a band who doesn't stick to one style of music, playing an assortment of genres and styles, sometimes across the same album or even sometimes in the same song. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.223.163.208 (talk) 07:16, 12 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Photo?[edit]

Might we add a photo of the band to the page? Pretty uneducated on wiki editing, not sure how to do it. I do have an HD photo of the current line-up. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.223.163.208 (talk) 07:18, 12 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
