Change Name[edit]

I'd like to recommend a name change to 409th Air Expeditionary Group since this was the group's last name before deactivation. Mentioning the AEG as a footnote doesn't quite do it justice, or following along pre-established actions of having the page named after the LAST designation the unit had. Also note this was the Eight Air Force not the Ninth. The Wiki on Pease AFB is also erroneus in naming 509th BW instead of 409th. Pease was part of the 409th wing as well. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.126.170.20 (talk) 16:20, 27 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Support Rename No support is given for this unit ever having "Operations" in its name. Joint Base Charleston Fact Sheet, Humanitarian Aid (accessed Oct 22, 2012) indicates it was the 409th Air Expeditionary Group at Sarafovo. The other two comments on assignment and the number of the unit at Pease AFB are not correct, however.

Command of Assignment[edit]

The article states the group was assigned to Air Mobility Command, but in all of its activations as an expeditionary unit, it has been assigned or attached to units of United States Air Forces Europe. Is there any support for the allotment as an AMC unit? --Lineagegeek (talk) 13:31, 22 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

409th Air Expeditionary Operations Group409th Air Expeditionary Group – Per the discussion above since 2009, this unit has never had the name given on this page It was moved to the current name in that year with no reference to the name, which is not in compliance with Air Force Programming Document 38-5, 1 July 1996, Attachment 3, which lists approved names for USAF groups. • Comment – the move has been done already. Can we just revert this RM? Dicklyon (talk) 18:07, 2 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
