VM's station naming (or lack thereof)[edit]

Although this station serves the Airport, it is marked on all signs as "44th Street and Washington." There is no indication to travelers that this is the Airport station, other than a small picture of an airplane on some maps. World-standard naming conventions, as exhibited on other cities' maps here on Wikipedia, would suggest that this station be called "Airport." It is unknown why Valley Metro chose to name its stations after street addresses rather than landmarks served. Wlindley (talk) 10:09, 13 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This station is official called 44th Street/Washington Station. The annunciator on the trains will include "Sky Harbor International Airport" in the announcement. There is significant signage at the station to indicate this is the airport stop. In addition, platform directional signs at other stations will indicate the correct platform to use to reach this station. Valley Metro (specifically METRO Light Rail, which is a different organization) chose to use intersection names to avoid confusion. --Recnet (talk) 04:35, 28 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
