Sitting already in June?[edit]

Is the Scottish Parliament in session now the 4th or the 5th? I see some debut speeches here already. – Kaihsu (talk) 18:18, 29 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Following the election held on 5 May 2016 the Scottish Parliament is now in the fifth session. The first working week for MSPs began 9 May with the Kirking session being held on the 12 May [1]. The official opening ceremony is not until the 2 July 2016 [2]. Following this there is a recess scheduled until 4 September 2016 [3]. Drchriswilliams (talk) 18:36, 29 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It may be better to clarify that their term started in May rather than in July, e.g. in the infobox. – Kaihsu (talk) 18:47, 29 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
A session of the Parliament "shall be the period from the date of the first meeting of the Parliament following a general election until the Parliament is dissolved." This is set out in Parliamentary procedure. Drchriswilliams (talk) 06:44, 1 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
