Merger[edit]

This article and 349th Night Fighter Squadron should be merged per WP:MILMOS#UNITNAME An article about a unit should be placed at "Name (optional disambiguator)". The name should generally be the official name used by the armed forces to which the unit base belongs. When a unit or base has had multiple names over the course of its existence, the title should generally be the last name used; however, exceptions can be made in cases where the subject is clearly more commonly known by one of the previous names. The exception does not apply. The 349th was a training unit only and was manned for little more than a year. Neither the 349th article nor this one are overly long, another reason for dividing. Combining the articles presents the entire history of the unit in a single place. --Lineagegeek (talk) 18:53, 22 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose - The premise that units sharing a lineage are identical units requiring a single article has been rejected on multiple occasions in similar merge discussions: [1][2][3][4][5][6] --Kkmurray (talk) 17:53, 23 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
But it has been accepted on even more. The alternative would be to eliminate the 349th article for lack of notability in this case. --Lineagegeek (talk) 21:48, 25 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
