This article needs to be renamed[edit]

Year and Day in the same title is just wrong. Will "Celebrations during the 75th year of Indian Independence" do? Unless someone has something better. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 11:23, 30 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@WikiDan61, probably this article must be renamed to Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav as 75th independence day is the same as all the other independence days in India, Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, a campaign by the government is what makes it different.
Even the Government of India uses Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav as the official name of the campaign. See https://amritmahotsav.nic.in/ the official website of the campaign.

76?[edit]

There is a statement in the lead section stating that it is the 76th anniversary, and the source that is used (Times of India) states on the same page both "75th" and "76th". Not sure which it is, but source 3 (also the Times of India) states that it is in fact the 75th. Thoughts before I change this? —ME_isSCAMMER (scam) 16:18, 15 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

To muddy the waters: India's first Independence day was on 15 August 1947. So, 15 August 2022, was the 76th Independence day, which came at the end of 75 years of independence. Now, for the term anniversary. The first anniversary of something (birth/wedding/other) is exactly one year after that something was created.
