Hollywood Blvd closed in preparations for the 94th Academy Awards

Just for the fun of the moment, in the afternoon we walked down Hollywood Blvd and found it closed at the Hollywood and Highland intersection. Apparently, the closure is part of preparations for the 94th Academy Awards ceremony.

The article also seems to assume that Chris Rock knew about Jada's alopecia. It is entirely possible that he didn't know and was simply referring to her choice of hairstyle (I didn't know about the alopecia until this incident). Sacr1fyce (talk) 05:19, 28 March 2022 (UTC)

Yeah, I was surprised it doesn't have its own article tbh. It has definitely overshadowed all other aspects of the awards - especially internationally. To get its own article, the assault would have to take on a life of its own, like it people were to start calling slaps "King Williams" or "Fresh Princes". "Altercation"

Is it really an "altercation" or "confrontation" if one of the persons involved didn't react or even defend himself? Seems more like an attack, hit or strike as referred to by various RS --Loganmac (talk) 07:50, 28 March 2022 (UTC)

In addition to Tbhotch's comment, the Academy's In Memoriams are meant to be balanced between the various professions represented in awards. As such, the actors are generally under-represented versus recognition. -- Zanimum (talk) 01:01, 29 March 2022 (UTC)

Animation controversy

The introduction of the Best Animated Feature category, especially the dismissive nature in which they inferred it was merely for kids, created quite a controversy among the animation community, especially in the midst of the Animation Guild's negotiations with AMPTP and the #NewDeal4Animation movement. It seems someone has already created the Will Smith–Chris Rock Oscars altercation article (unfortunately, in my view). I'm almost tempted to propose a merge of that article. The incident, while attracting more discussion than almost anything else during this year's Oscars, doesn't seem to be notable at the moment. – Epicgenius (talk) 15:15, 29 March 2022 (UTC)

I was just about to reply: an article was started on 02:06, March 28, 2022‎. I'm not so sure. I think this was a "big deal" ... and is going to become an even "bigger deal". We have to wait and see what actions, if any, the Academy takes ... not to mention, what actions, if any, the police department takes. My guess is that they will all be "hyper-sensitive" to political correctness ... i.e., take no meaningful action ... but do some perfunctory gesture that "looks good", yet (again) does nothing.
