Does FAMU, Alabama A&M, or Southern ever go by "A&M"? I don't think that they do, and thus shouldn't Texas A&M (which is referred to as "A&M" be the sole school listed or somehow seperated?

"Agricultural and Mechanical College"[edit]
Wikipedia seems to have no content about the general history of the use of the term "Agricultural and Mechanical" in the names of colleges -- only articles about assorted individual US institutions, such as Texas A&M. It would be interesting to know when and where the term originated, how it spread, and how it is dying out. - Closest would likely be Land-grant university, as most A&M schools got their start that way. older ≠ wiser 17:02, 23 March 2018 (UTC)
- I'd like to know more about the term too. To that end, would it be appropriate to list NC State and MSU as having been formerly known as North Carolina College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts and Mississippi Agricultural & Mechanical College respectively?
