Old logo needs to be replaced[edit]

Article improvement[edit]

Hello, I'm Karin, an employee of A10 Networks. I have a conflict of interest as a paid employee, but I would like to work with Wikipedia editors to make the A10 Networks article better. To follow Wikipedia's rules for those with a conflict of interest, I won't personally make edits to the article.

I am hoping to address the concerns indicated in the banner at the top. It is my understanding that the company website cannot be cited as a reference. Are there editors here that would remove some of the information that does not meet Wikipedia's standards for sourcing? Particularly, reference numbers 5, 12, 13, and 16-22. Let's discuss. Thanks!   • Hi Karin! Thank you for your request. The following changes have been made:
  • The claims involving awards were omitted.
  • A majority of claims where the subject company was the only source were omitted.
  • The claim involving the settlement was rewritten in brief.
  • Claims about company products were limited in their descriptions of those products. This limitation effectively resolves the issues surrounding the advert maintenance template, which was then removed.
  • As far as the two remaining templates, it is recommended that, as a courtesy, the COI editor first try asking the editor who assigned those templates whether or not they can be removed. Since they placed them, they are in the best position to know whether or not the issues which caused their placements have been corrected.[a] The COI editor may contact them directly by placing new messages on their talk pages. The remaining maintenance templates and who placed them are:
  1. A COI template placed in May 2016 by Lemongirl942
  2. A Technical template placed in September 2018 by Mean as custard

  1. ^ Based on the passage of time, the editors in question may not have immediate recollection of the templates they placed. In those instances, editors have usually been happy to read over the article again and decide whether their template still applies. New material with sourcing[edit]

Hello, I'm Karin, an employee of A10 Networks. I've previously written about my conflict of interest as a paid employee and desire to work with Wikipedia editors to make the A10 Networks article better. I won't personally make edits to the article to comply with Wikipedia's guidelines.

I have some text to add to the "History section" that I have placed below with references.

  • A10 Networks released the Harmony design of the Thunder Series ADC in 2015.[1]
  • The same year, A10 Networks upgraded the Advanced Core Operating System (ACOS). The update allowed 100 percent of software capabilities to be addressed by APIs, whereas the previous ACOS could only address 40 percent through APIs.[1]

  1. Green tickY The claim involving the Harmony design was implemented.
  2. Red XN The claim involving the upgraded ACOS was not added because the term API was not WikiLinked. Good practice dictates that the article's prose explain to readers any acronyms which they may not be familiar with. The acronym API has not previously been mentioned nor explained within the existing prose.
  • With regards to an earlier post regarding the {{COI}} template, the wording of that particular template makes it especially difficult to remove in that it describes an article which contains content that has been added through contributions by individuals closely related to the company. In this case, that appears to be what has occurred. There is a great difference of opinion over whether this particular template ought to remain in articles after being placed or whether it should be removed after some amount of time. My default response is to leave the template to be removed by the editor who placed it. Unfortunately in this case, that editor has not edited since 2017.
  • Looking just at the resolution language used by the template, it does state that changes might need to be made to ensure WP:NPOV. It could be argued that having 2 out of the 8 references linked to the company itself (1⁄4, or 25% of all the references used in the article, in addition to those references which are closely linked to the technology sector) might tip the POV of the article in favor of the company. Having more content placed into the article which originates from reliable, WP:SECONDARY sources independent of the tech sector would help to ensure a more balanced POV, and thus in my opinion would be seen as an auspicious development for removal of the template.

Reformatted new material with sourcing[edit]

Hello, I'm Karin, an employee of A10 Networks. I have a conflict of interest as an employee of A10 Networks and will only post to talk pages, rather than make direct edits to the article or related articles.

I am resubmitting my request above that was partially implemented by User:Spintendo with a formatting correction. I am requesting to add new material to the "History section", which you may see below with a reference.

 Additional note: The Wagner source used with this claim and one additional claim was reclassified as a {{cite press release}} (but since returned to {{cite web}}) because a portion of the information (if not all of it) used to comprise the article originated from an interview with Paul Nicholson, A10's product marketing director. It's not known what other sources Wagner used to write their article. But since it was a report dealing with a newer development in the company's technology, it may be surmised that any information available from non-company sources would naturally be limited, thus necessitating additional input from the company itself. Since I cannot be sure what amount can be ascribed to which source, I've returned the template to {{cite web}}. Keeping abreast of where the information described by these sources is actually originating from is important in gauging whether the article is adhering to a WP:NPOV.

Removing unsourced text from introduction[edit]

Hello, Karin here with a new request to remove information from the introductory paragraph that is inaccurate and not supported by sourcing. As an employee of A10 Networks, I have a conflict of interest and will only post to talk pages, rather than make direct edits to the article or related articles. The first part of the following text is inaccurate, discussing products that no longer exist. The sourcing used to support the statement is from a small industry publication. According to an earlier discussion on this page, this type of publication may not be properly vetted and is, therefore, best to avoid to support statements. The second sentence is completely unsourced and should be removed.

  • "...A10 originally serviced just the identity management market with its line of ID Series products. In early 2007 they added bandwidth management appliances (EX Series)."

@KGatA10: I'm not sure I understand what you mean here. The discussion you're referring to sounds like the one we had about the Wagner source — only that source is not used in the lead section (and in that instance I didn't recommend removing it, only that the source should be scrutinized to determine where the information in it was coming from). The Rogers reference is the source for the ... A10 originally serviced just the identity management market with its line of ID Series products... claim. The claim In early 2007 they added bandwidth management appliances (EX Series) is the one that is unreferenced. Is that the one you'd like removed? Please advise.   • The requested file cannot be added to the article because the WP:NFCCP No's #1 and #2 have not been filled out. The author or copyright owner has also been omitted from the file's metadata page.
  • A detailed non-free use rationale is required for every article the logo is used in. As all 8 non-free content criterion have not been included, these missing items should be added to the file's metadata page before the file can be added to the article.

Per my last request that was denied, I have updated the parameters of the image to include fields that I didn't include prior (apologies, I used the logo rationale supplied and didn't know that the other parameters were required).
