Proposal to rename article USS Takelma (ATF-113)[edit]

This ship has been known by two names throughout it's lifetime: As the USS Takelma (ATF-113) for it's 50 year career in the US Navy and as the ARA Suboficial Castillo (A-6) during its 24 year career with the Argentine Navy. The US name is a redirect to the main article using the Argentine name.

Guidance has been given under Wikipedia:Naming_conventions_(ships)#Ships_that_changed_name_or_nationality that "An article about a ship that changed name or nationality should be placed at the best-known name, with a redirect from the other name." As such, I propose that the US Navy name is more appropriate for the main article and the Argentine name for the redirect, given the time of service for both navies. Before I make this change, however, I want to open up the question for discussion.

Does anyone visiting this page have any issues with my proposal? I plan on doing the work within the next week or so, so please let me know.

After getting input, I've closed out the discussion Wikipedia Talk:WikiProject Ships#Proposal to rename article ARA Suboficial Castillo (A-6) to USS Takelma (ATF-113) as Opposed, so the article won't be changed. KNHaw (talk) 17:59, 20 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
