Defending image[edit]

What should I do?

Don't panic; you should have time to contest the deletion (although please review deletion guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

If the image is non-free then you may need to provide a fair use rationale
If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale, then it cannot be uploaded or used.

An even longer-lived satellite?[edit]

Good info. Not sure it is relevant to this article as that sat would be a 3rd or 4th generation commsat. In the late 1990's, apparently ATS-3 had the record, although the sources are a bit unclear as I wasn't able to find a publication date for the NASA "Beyond the Ionosphere" book. However, I have tweaked the text in this article to indicate that the oldest claim was made at a snapshot in time, and is certainly not eternally true. Cheers.
