What is the significance of a rabbit?[edit]

The Early Life section of this Wikipedia article on Abdelkareem Khadr starts like this in a very porly written text: Quote: Before leaving for Tajikstan in 1994, a young Ibn Al-Khattab gave Abdulkareem a rabbit of his own, which was promptly named Khattab. The rabbit's legs were injured during rough play with his youngest daughter Maryam, and the crippled Ahmed would often sit in the backyard, crying over it. Unquote. Just exactly what is the significance of somebody receiving a rabbit, what its name is, how it was injured. Who is Ahmed (no clue -- as this is the first time Ahmed is mentioned anywhere in the article. And who is Maryam (no clue, as this is the first time Maryam is mentioned either). Why is he called "crippled Ahmed". Shouldn't we be informed just exactly why he was a cripple. Earlier text in the article is no help either. Should an encyclopedic entry contain such trivia even if its true about such an incident? Why did Ahmed cry? What does that have to do with Abdelkareem if Ahmed cried. He cried all the time or just that one time when he saw the rabbit injured. BTW, the source mentioned leads nowhere. The reference cannot be checked as it uses an undefined and unlinked reference. Or the contributor expects us to buy the book by Michelle Shephard. And which page should we take a look at to check? Probably this was a copy paste from some other article. End of article[edit]

The article ends up with this quotation. "Dr. Marty McKay, a private doctor who had never met the family, registered a three-page complaint a week later with the Children's Aid Society, alleging child abuse and possible brainwashing of Abdulkareem based on what she'd read in the media.[11]" One feels one is left in limbo... Whatever happened to the complaint. was it verified? Refuted. What came out of it all? What is the significance of quoting something without explaining the consequences. And more importantly, whatever happened to Abdelkareem after this specific incident. No clue whatsoever. Frankly this article doesn't do justice at all to this fine young man. werldwayd (talk) 04:57, 23 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You're right, Werldwayd, I couldn't agree more. I thought it was a bad ending as well, so I added a new one. I would have done it earlier but I wanted to wait until the Canadian police had held a proper news conference to officially confirm the charges. Mardiste (talk) 21:56, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
