Support for abortion at 84%[edit]

I hedged the opinion poll results a bit because of the following calculation:

According to the source, 1009 people were questioned. It doesn't say how many answered.
The age range was 18-75. A conservative (under)estimate, based on demographic info, tell us that should be at most 80% of the population.
A rule of thumb for estimating the required sample size for a poll (the one I learned in statistics class) is that you need the square root of the population size. Lithuania has some three million inhabitants.
The square root of 80% of 3mln is 1.549, so the survey seems to fall short.

This is no reason to label the source as unreliable, but AFAIC it's no more than "one opinion poll". Perhaps someone can read and reference this page from the organisation that had the poll conducted in the first place. I'm also interested in what kind of organisation it is, lithuaniatribune.com doesn't say.

The reason I'm doing this at all is that the "fact" that 84% of Lithuanians support abortion has been nominated for DYK. QVVERTYVS (hm?) 18:42, 24 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
