Untitled[edit]

This is the American system, which has NEVER been used in South Africa - and it's nowhere to be found in the resources given. Since the whole article is rubbish, I am rewriting it. Seriously - non-South Africans could use this to interpret South Africans' marks and ruin their chances just because of a stupid mistake! It is possible it got confused with the later OBE system, but got the calibration wrong as well as the dates. It may also be an unconventional system used at the school the writer went to. However, I admit I am a bit hazy about the new system (which keeps changing) so I would appreciate it if someone could update it with (accurate) details.

§Pass Marks

Currently I believe the marks to pass at high school level are between 35% and 40%. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.132.210.166 (talk) 21:39, 29 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed[edit]

This information is out-of-date, and all reference links are dead. Current South African system does not use letter symbols, and a "1" corresponds to 0 - 29% and a "2" to 30 - 39%. The information refers to pre-2008 systems, but is not current. Also, referring to the curriculum as the OBE curriculum, while popularly described in that way, is not strictly correct. At least at University level, the scale is wrong. (For example, 75 points is A with distinction).

& Pass mark at University of Cape Town is 50%. Anything below 50% is considered a fail. See https://uct.ac.za/studyabroad/academic-life/exams-uct — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ubermartingale (talkcontribs) 09:05, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
