Origin of name[edit]

Following comment on origin of name moved from article. Keith D (talk) 22:28, 10 January 2008 (UTC) -[reply]

However this mention of Aclun/Acklam refers to the Acklam neighbouring Leavening and Barthorpe some seven miles from the town of Malton in North Yorkshire and not the Cleveland town of the same name.

Sources of information on West Acklam[edit]

"A Vision of Britain through Time", which is a pretty good online reference for former governmental authorities in charge of smaller places, does not give Stokesley Rural District as having anything to do with West Acklam. This is perfectly reasonable when one looks at maps. However, Stockton, in County Durham, was the Registration District and Poor Law Union until 1875.

I am also confused by the comment "one-time focus of the parish" used in the Geography section. The sentence goes on to mention "residence of the Hustler family and Restoration mansion, Acklam Hall". The focus of a parish is surely the focus of the residents of a parish. What relationship was there between the ordinary residents and Acklam Hall? From the rest of the sentence I would have perhaps expected a comment about agriculture or some other industry carried on in the area.

Someone has attempted to condense facts into such a small number of words that the words left do not make sense.

Wards covered in this article[edit]

I am wanting to add content on Trimdon, Kader and Ayresome to this article. Trimdon (formerly Brookfield) ward is trace on Wikipedia. Part of Kader is west of Acklam shops which should obviously be counted as Acklam.

Aryesome Ward is tricky, Whinney Banks does have the whole Acklam Green thing. Ayresome is very close to Middlesbrough central, while the former stadium is in Central Ward. Ayresome itself has no article. Chocolateediter (talk) 18:27, 7 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
