Recommend replacing with redirect[edit]

At the moment this article is really not about Acquiring Banks, but a discussion of credit card network interchange fees, with no direct citations. I suggest replacing the article with a redirect to Acquiring bank.

Here's some of the errors/omissions that have me most concerned:

There is no reference to merchant accounts, or acquirer's underwriting of them.
The acquirer is not the party that performs authorizations. If the acquirer happens to offer that service, they are in fact simply forwarding the auth request to Vital, VisaNet, or directly to Amex or Discover as appropriate. The only function the acquirer must perform themselves is batch settlement.
POS terminal rentals are not required for a merchant account. When they are offered, they are not provided by the acquirer, rather they are part of an upsell by the sales organization (ISO) who resells merchant accounts for one or more acquirers.
Other card associations, such as American Express and JCB, have acquirer relationships as well.
The rate figures are either out of date, or reflect fees that apply only to high-risk merchants. In any event, they lack citations.
There is no discussion of the relationship between the acquirer and issuer.

Source Of Citation[edit]

I reviewed the website (merchant-account-services.org) used by User:Stymiee and found it lacking as a citation source. The site was launched in 2006, is anonymous, no listed owners, and is comprised of a blog, forum, RSS article feeds and "glossary" which I also found on a more establish financial website, verbatim ("possible" copyright issue). User also has created multiple links to this same website on other articles and appears to be affiliated with this site. Because the website is so new and is using material found on other websites, it should not be used as a citation. If the definition, which was reverted by this user, requires citation, it should be from an original source. Calltech 12:23, 23 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
