How about some examples of APMs so people have some idea just how much people are doing in a minute? And since I am aware that these numbers may be very high (400+) perhaps some insight as to what exactly these people are doing that requires them to click something 6 times every second?

Some links to programs that measure APM (or click speed) would be nice.

High APM[edit]

400 APM is not the record,several players achieve average 500-550 APM,with some reaching 600 APM.(they use HQ mouse and keyboards) Its not the mouse speed alone,you have to use hotkeys(which probably takes the biggest chuck out of APM).Try to play one game of SC and analyse it with replay utils.

Modern tetris players also have extremely high apms. On the website Jstris the KPP (Key presses per piece) and PPS (Pieces per second) are calculated for each game. A random game of 40L with a time of 37.05 has a PPS and KPP of 2.75 and 3.83 respectively (2.75*3.83*60=APM=631.95). The WR for 40L is currently held by Vince_HD with a time of 15.654 (as of Dec 3, 2020). His PPS and KPP were 6.52 and 2.61, multiply this by 60 gives us an APM of 1021.03. These monstrously large APMs are aided by the short game length as well as easily predictable actions, all top players look ahead at what pieces are coming up and plan accordingly. There is effectively no need for an eAPM (effective Actions per Minute) for games of sprint in modern tetris. This is because players wants to minimize unnecessary actions, while still increasing speed.

Seems poorly written[edit]

This article's summery seems poorly written, also no references, also no links to how to mesaure this (somebody here meantions replay utils ?).

Conclusion also doesn't seem very appropriate for a wiki. Someone better than me at SC and such needs to edit this. -RoSeeker 12:14, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that wikipedia should not include "conclusions" in its articles, I will remove it and if someone disagrees they can put it back and give a reason for it.

Micro?[edit]

As far as I know, there is no correlation between APM and specifically micro. If we're taking SC as the benchmark here, high APM is most often associated with better macro, so the statement seems very odd.
