As part of the cleanup process, the automated bot PocKleanBot has generated this notice as a focus of cleanup efforts, and also contacted several contributing editors of the article to bring their attention to the problem. You should use this section to discuss possible resolution of the problem and achieve consensus for action. Only when there is a consensus that the article is now cleaned up should you then de-list it by deleting the cleanup tag from the article, this causes the article to drop off the monthly cleanup-needed list page.

I considered removing the {{cleanup}} tag because I think I've tidied somewhat, but my priorities may not be the same as either Wikipedia's or other Family Guy editors. / edgarde 20:30, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

Done

Snipped some fancruft — too much space on Wikipedia's Family Guy articles is devoted to unfunny explanations of one-time gags (or one-episode situations) that don't really add much. I left in what few seemed sufficient to convey the character without overloading the article with joke spoilers. / edgarde 20:30, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

Still needed

Situations need to be linked to episodes. I'm not knowledgable enough for this job.
Infobox "Character Information" might be taken from real-life Adam West. While this seems logical, it may not be appropriate — perhaps remove information not confirmed on the show (or in authoritative Family Guy commentaries, interviews and whatnot) as being same for the character. / edgarde 20:30, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

Could use

There are certainly other quotes online about how cool West is doing this part, and his apparent talent for this type of humor. These might be added in a new section perhaps entitled Performance by actor Adam West. / edgarde 20:30, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

Probably not needed

Expansion may not be justified as this is a minor (if delightful) character. It might make more sense to merge this into another article. However, if Herbert (Family Guy) rates an article ... well what do I know. / edgarde 20:30, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

List of characters from Family Guy#Other characters

There is Too Much about Adam West in this section of the article, and I think that it should be moved here, since he does have his own article now. I'll look at some of the other character bios, but I'm thinking a "Trivia" section for these anecdotes ... maybe even just call it "Anecdotes"? --72.75.126.37 19:56, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

Trivia sections are to be avoided

Ew. Deleted this entire section — it's just the model of why Trivia sections should be avoided.

There's a tendency for editors to re-tell every memorable joke in an unfunny fashion when writing on popular comedy subjects. It's unencyclopedic, and spoils the jokes without adding anything of value to the article. Please I beg everyone do not restore either here or elsewhere on Wikipedia.

Vital statistics taken from actor Adam West

The data (height, DoB, etc.) on Adam West (Family Guy) appear to be taken from Adam West, which would be assuming too much — this has been brough up (by me) on the Talk page. While I think the deletion is premature, we probably shouldn't keep it unless there's verification that Adam West (Family Guy) == Adam West, at least as far as vital stats go. This could be either a mention on the show of the characters birthdate (lot to ask for), or one of the show's producers saying the rules for the character is that the vital stats are taken from the real-life actor.

Possibilities:

Mayor West's DoB and/or height have been mentioned on the show.
Family Guy producers say they intend the Adam West character to resemble actor Adam West in every way.
Family Guy producers say the character doesn't mirror the real-life West.
It is unknown — no one who would know the rules for this character has revealed them.

If ...

keep the infobox stats and add cite episode.
keep the infobox stats and add citations.
delete the statistics from the infobox, add this info to article with citation.
delete the statistics from the infobox and mention this in the article.

It would be helpful if someone who has been through all the DVD commentary and more than a couple interviews can comment on this. I am certainly not an expert on this subject. / edgarde 06:48, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

Well, having typed out all that, it seems that mayoradamwest.com, FOX-owned, gives "September 19, 1928 (the birthday of the real Adam West)" as Mayor West's birthdate. This may not be canonical, but it's a good reason to keep "real Adam West" stats in this article for now. / edgarde 07:10, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
