Adriano (footballer, born 25 September 1974)Adriano José da Silva – The requested page is already redirected to this page. It is the full name in the article itself and it removes unnecessary parenthesis. Zombles - Talk to me 13:18, 19 July 2023 (UTC) — Relisting. Adumbrativus (talk) 20:18, 28 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Is this case different from any of the other Adriano § Brazilian footballers? —  AjaxSmack  03:56, 20 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Genuine question, why are the brazilian footballers disambiguated like this, instead of just using their full name? I can think of no other place within wikipedia where I have seen this type of weird disambiguation. Zombles - Talk to me 07:08, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Because it's their common name. The Portuguese do it too. -- Necrothesp (talk) 15:54, 1 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Move to Adriano (forward, born 1974). This extended qualifier appears to be due to Adriano Gerlin also being a footballer born in September 1974, but it's odd that he is one of the few footballers listed at Adriano that uses a surname. I agree this disambiguation is weird; sure, the WP:COMMONNAME for all of these may be just "Adriano", but that seems inconsistent with WP:SINGLENAME, and WP:NATURAL disambiguation by using surnames seems much more appropriate than these extended qualifiers that are meant to be used sparingly when all else fails. That said, what is probably needed is a larger requested move or discussion at Wikipedia Talk:WikiProject Football to address the larger issue; hopefully someone from WikiProject Football can offer input as to why this disambiguation appears to be favored here. For now, I have suggested an alternative that better follows Wikipedia:Naming_conventions_(sportspeople)#Association_football_(soccer) and removes the birthdate. • Oppose per COMMONNAME, not opposed to Adriano (forward, born 1974).--Ortizesp (talk) 06:46, 30 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose per WP:COMMONNAME. And Adriano Gerlin also seems to have been a forward (according to his article rather than the dabpage), so the alternative doesn't help. -- Necrothesp (talk) 15:54, 1 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose current RM but support move to Adriano (footballer, born 1974) on the basis that Adriano Gerlin's COMMONNAME is not Adriano as well. This current DAB is unnecessary and can be moved to the year instead of specific date, unless Gerlin is also called Adriano for short, resulting in a move for that article and this one staying where it is. Paul Vaurie (talk) 22:56, 1 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    • According to his article, Gerlin was also commonly known as Adriano, so this is poor disambiguation. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:04, 2 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
