By the numbers[edit]

"47 m ( high, 88 meters wide and 180 meters long"? Measured from where to where? Also, "1700 km in 16 days to reach the site, an average speed of 4.4 knots" doesn't add up: avg 4.4kt =8 days. TREKphiler hit me ♠ 05:53, 2 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not all ships travel 24 hours a day just as not all semi-trucks are driven 24/7. The article referenced contains the exact same information as this article. If one figures on the most that they traveled an average of 12 hours a day, then 16 days would be possible. Tag removed. Kjnelan (talk) 05:56, 18 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Size: the concrete structure (the box) measured 180 m long, 88 m wide and 47 m high. The topside structure comes in addition to this. The displacement during tow was about 300 000 metric tonnes. Once installed, the total weight was about 600 000 metric tonnes, as it was filled with water and sand to stand firmly on the seabed, at 30 m depth.

With regard to speed: The average speed of 4.4 knots is correct. I was on the tow, and calculated the speed. The distance is about 1700 nautical miles, not 1700 km. Just a typo. By the way, I never heard about ships that do not sail 24/7. This tow certainly did not stop for any coffee breaks along the way. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.161.240.103 (talkcontribs) 20 August 2011
