So-called "Battle of Bodrum"[edit]

Though this 1823 "battle" is mentionned in the source, and also in the source of the source (Love's "History of the US Navy" p 147), it is probably a mistake of R. Love, since there was no "battle of Budrum" in 1823, and since there was no "crushing of the Greek Navy" either in 1823 or 1824 (if "crushing" means a significant loss of ships and men). Piracy arose from the financial difficulties (end of the first English loan) and political anarchy of the Greeks.--Phso2 (talk) 09:59, 18 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
