References[edit]

Compiling some external sources:

You also may note some of the existing references, particularly Anon et al. (2007), Anon & Mearls (2007) and Collins (2002), have further ininformation that can be integrated/cited. This is a good choice for a module to flesh out as there is lots of external references. - Waza 20:47, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Combine with D and Q series[edit]

User:Turlo Lomon started to combine these modules at User:Turlo Lomon/draft, some of which may be useful. - Peregrine Fisher 01:10, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is combining these really helpful? This article is a reasonable size as is, I think comining it with DQ series would just make a larger article with no real point to being so. While I can understand not wanted heaps of stub articles there is no reason articles need to be merged if they are already over a page. - Waza 05:04, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • I agree with Waza. The G & D series, at least, can stand on their own, and Q1 is classic enough to warrant its own page.--Robbstrd 18:25, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Infoboxes[edit]

Do we need all 4 info boxes in this case? I know I argued for individual info boxes on Dragonlance modules (DL series) but I think this is a diferent case. Here the useful info in all the boxes is the same (author, levels, date) Also as these were some of the first modules ever produces and because of that some of the shortest, and they only were printed in smaller print runs there is less likelyhood that they will ever develop into their own articles. For these reasons I think a simple image galler of the modules would be better here. - Waza 05:11, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Change it around to whatever you think is best. Fine with me. - Peregrine Fisher 20:46, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I was thinking something like this, but probably won't have time to integrate it poroperly for a few days. - Waza 23:41, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I changed them to thumbnails, see if you like it. I'm kind of against using galleries when it comes to fair use images. I seems like it attracts the kind of people who like to remove images. - Peregrine Fisher 23:52, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
OK - Waza 00:05, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This page is linked from official WoTC page[edit]

This page is linked from the official Wizards of the Coast site, publishers of D&D, in their article[Previews for April and Beyond]. Well actually the link is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glacial_Rift_of_the_Frost_Giant_Jarl hich redirects to this article. Not sure if it is noteable for inclusion in the article. I guess it shows that the new mini (large, Rare) Frost Giant Jarl -- the big, bad guy (and namesake) from G2 Glacial Rift of the Frost Giant Jarl could probably at least be mentioned? - Waza 23:43, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, cool. - Peregrine Fisher 06:25, 24 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New version coming for 4th Edition[edit]

From http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/4dnd/20080815 - Due August 2009 "Revenge of the Giants super-adventure (boxed, including tokens for all monsters needed to play the adventure; an homage to Against the Giants)." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.172.112.198 (talk) 10:17, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Should we add this? Looks like the release date was later moved to September. BOZ (talk) 11:54, 26 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It says it's an homage, so that's encyc worthy. I wonder if we should wait till it comes out though, kinda like CRYSTAL. - Peregrine Fisher (talk) (contribs) 16:02, 26 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That's what I figured. :) It should be out soon. BOZ (talk) 16:59, 26 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Is this out now? BOZ (talk) 06:07, 17 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[2] - Peregrine Fisher (talk) (contribs) 06:37, 17 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, it says Sept which is why I was asking.  ;) Should we add that first link now, where it says "this is an homage"? BOZ (talk) 15:19, 17 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good. - Peregrine Fisher (talk) (contribs) 15:46, 17 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Possible refs[edit]

GG liked it Wired.com - Peregrine Fisher (talk) (contribs) 21:43, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe this will help? BOZ (talk) 22:43, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Very cool. Keep me posted. - Peregrine Fisher (talk) (contribs) 23:21, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Will do! Keep an eye on that thread as well, and if you want me to say/ask anything let me know, and feel free to follow up on any suggestions you think might be worth looking into. :) BOZ (talk) 11:54, 26 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The ENWorld thread has received a very significant update! BOZ (talk) 06:51, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Did the TSG review since it was little. The DW18 review is very detailed and will take some time to work on; notice that we could probably source some of the plot and publication history to this review. The review is two posts beginning here, with publication info here. BOZ (talk) 12:37, 5 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
OK, bedtime. :) Feel free to comb either review for more useful info; I'm crashing for now. BOZ (talk) 04:22, 6 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

For some "celebrity cred", try Stephen Colbert: "Those old "Giants" modules, those were tremendous. Those are some of my favorite memories: working my way through fire giant, frost giant, and storm giant castles." BOZ (talk) 02:21, 29 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm just going to add this one; too good to pass up. :) BOZ (talk) 17:03, 29 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Good Article?[edit]

I've said it before, and finally someone's listening; this one's got potential to go GA and better. :)

One question though, I'm not so sure about this edit; at least insofar as removing the descriptions of the covers. Since the individual modules don't have individual articles, this seems like the best place to talk about them, even if only as parts of the whole. BOZ (talk) 22:36, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, we should probably add a sentence or a paragraph about the art somewhere in the Pub hist section. - Peregrine Fisher (talk) (contribs) 22:45, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That would satisfy me. ;) BOZ (talk) 22:55, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Did that; feel free to rearrange that as needed. So, you figure it's ready to go yet? :) BOZ (talk) 17:32, 13 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It's pretty close. The lead doesn't summarize the whole article, though. - Peregrine Fisher (talk) (contribs) 17:40, 13 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ah OK, I think I've learned some skill on fixing lead sections, so I'll try to handle that this weekend, and if you're otherwise satisfied I'll nom it. :) BOZ (talk) 19:17, 13 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Awesome work! Sorry I haven't been of much help lately with GA improvements... I've been spending too much time on user scripts! I hope to put some more work into D&D articles pretty soon, though. –Drilnoth (TC) 13:24, 23 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Here we go! :) BOZ (talk) 18:52, 12 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Good deal! BOZ (talk) 15:09, 14 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Pulled material[edit]

This stuff was pulled out during the effort to get the article up to GA. If you can figure out a way to work it back in, be my guest. :)

First off, a couple of RPGnet reviews:

BOZ (talk) 04:08, 16 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"At least twice parts of the series have been made into modules for the video game Neverwinter Nights.[1][2]"

Moved from article[edit]

May want some of this later. - Peregrine Fisher (talk) (contribs) 00:11, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The contents of these three modules were combined as the supermodule Against the Giants (module code G1-2-3) and published by TSR in 1981.[1]

Against the Giants includes the following pre-generated player characters: Beek Gwenders of Croodle, Cloyer Bulse the Magsman, Faffle Dwe'o-mercraeft, Flerd Trantle, Fonkin Hoddypeak, Frush O'Suggil, Gleep Wurp the Eyebiter, Redmod Dumple, and Roaky Swerked. Some of these characters later appeared as non-player characters in other adventures: including Beek Gwenders and Fonkin Hoddypeak in Descent into the Depths of the Earth (D1-2). Fonkin Hoddypeak also appeared in Against the Giants: The Liberation of Geoff.
