Black[edit]

Tubers, most if not all reliable sources discussing the subject has referred to her as either "Black Woman or Black African". Hardly ever read about her being called a dark-skinned. Also, you can't just apply your local rules on Wikipedia when there are already existing rules here to follow. Your edit appears to be unsourced as it has been marked with the citation template, and addition of unsourced content to biographies of living persons is generally not accepted here. This may just be like the Rotimi Amaechi case, remember, the title was only let to remain as you suggested because it appeared to be the most common name used on the internet.   • The social/ethnic classification "Black" is ambiguous, as it is defined differently in various countries. While in some countries, it refers to skin colour, in other countries it is majorly based on social class (meaning a dark skinned person may be considered "White" and vice versa). Nigeria doesn't even recognize such classifications ("Black" and "White"). According to Wikipedia policy, one important role of editors is to solve ambiguities such as this, without letting the sentence lose its meaning (explicity is one of the characteristics of a perfect article). I deduced the "Black" word used here refers to skin colour, and that is the reason I stated it explicitly. According to WP:COMMONALITY, words with meanings understandable to a wider range of people are preferred ("Use a commonly understood word or phrase in preference to one that has a different meaning because of national differences"). And this is even more important considering the fact that the subject here is a native of a country that doesn't define "Black". According to MOS:TIES, it is preferred to use a language that is tied to the nationality of the subject concerned ("An article on a topic that has strong ties to a particular English-speaking nation should use the English of that nation."). I understand that the editor who initially added the contribution is probably American and isn't aware of the ambiguity of the word. Another editor solving the ambiguity is very appropriate according to Wiki's policies.
Also note that "article titles" is a very different case from this. While Articles should be named with the most commonly used Name in reliable sources, content of the articles shouldn't necessarily copy the wordings used in the sources, except in cases where quotes are embedded in the articles. Most of the sources calling her "Black" are mostly American/western news sites, and their countries have definitions for "Black"...and maybe some confused Nigerian blogs use the word too. Then also note that I was the one that added the citation template not a bot, and that's because the contribution isn't sourced. You also removed that in your edit, and that can be considered disruptive. I'd revert your edit now, if you revert again without a relevant reason, I'd report you at the noticeboard for edit warring.--Jamie Tubers (talk) 11:59, 22 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Agbani Darego's place of birth[edit]

Although she hails from Abonnema, Rivers State, All older and most reliable sources such as Celebrating Agbani Darego, Hitz, Biography of Agbani Darego, Model; Rivers State Celebrity and an offline source from page 91 of a 2002 edition of National Geographic, here and Independent communications Network, all cite Lagos, Nigeria as her place of birth. Besides, Lagos is also stated as her place of birth on her personal website, not Abonnema. Eruditescholar (talk) 21:45, 25 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
