Untitled[edit]

This topic is very important to cooperatives but needs a lot of additional content to do justice to the subject. An initial list would include:

  • why farmers organize agricultural cooperatives,
  • impact of agricultural cooperatives on farmers livelihoods,
  • international distribution by country, function and agricultural sector,
  • history of the movement,
  • role of agricultural cooperatives in international development, and
  • list of prominent leaders of the movement, with links to their wiki entries.Brett epic (talk) 16:38, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

For a new example from India, check out http://www.hinduonnet.com/biz/2003/06/30/stories/2003063000010300.htm "Producer companies" seem to be very similar, except for the member benefits, which depend on the annual contribution by each member.

Self-Contradiction in Lead[edit]

The article reads: "Agricultural production cooperatives are relatively rare in the world, and known examples are limited to collective farms in former socialist countries and the kibbutzim in Israel." However the caption of the photo reads "President of an agricultural cooperative in Guinea in an onion field." This would imply an example of an agricultural cooperative that does not fall into the definition provided by the categories listed i.e. Kolhoz and kibbutz. —Preceding unsigned comment added by NedTugent (talkcontribs) 14:59, 1 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Considering edits - content[edit]

Dear experts, I am a farmer’s daughter; and in the summer of 2013, I worked with three farmer cooperatives in Rayagada and Gajapati districts of rural Odisha in Eastern India. I am far from an expert on agricultural cooperatives. However, during the summer, I researched agriculture cooperatives (mostly focused on India), visited them and conducted field research. I'd love to add to the page based on what I learned, hoping it'll be helpful.

Below are a few content areas where I'd like to add more and edit: (a) the history of agriculture cooperatives, (b) why we need them and (c) types of agriculture cooperatives by purpose/ sector/ specialization (d) how one can create them. I will also add to Notes and references, Bibliography, Further reading and External links. Do let me know your thoughts. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tanyajk (talkcontribs) 04:16, 7 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It would help if I could have sent you an alert that I've replied to your request, but you've not entered your user id correctly because it's red letters... fffff SvenAERTS (talk) 11:09, 24 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
