Henakadaya -> Anaconda claim[edit]

The claim in the article that the Sinhala name Henakadaya for this snake gave Anaconda sounds implausible to me. The names sound very different and, more importantly, this snake seems to have nothing to do with Anacondas. -- Sundar \talk \contribs 13:56, 24 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The kind of corruption and mix-ups that happened with early specimen transfers and notes seems very likely. In any case we know that Anaconda is a name not used in South America. The name theory is actually old and the Latin transcriptions can be found in the references cited at Anaconda. Shyamal (talk) 15:21, 24 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the clarification, Shyamal. -- Sundar \talk \contribs 15:37, 18 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
