As this person's article was created after his death it must be merged[edit]

The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

@Mazca: and other administrators this person's article should be merged with Attacks by Islamic extremists in Bangladesh, I have added some excerpts (important sentences) of this article to Attacks by Islamic extremists in Bangladesh. Other things are not important, please delete this article or redirect it. Walter Saphron (talk) 05:02, 26 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The AFD Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ahmed Rajib Haider closed as keep, with the comment: "A merge discussion on the talk page about what content shouldn't really be here is the way forward, from the point of view of AfD this article is clearly not being deleted" It is not appropriate to add a speedy deletion request to the article, or to unilaterally redirect the article without merging any content. or any discussion. And Whether the article was created after the subject's death has nothing to do with it.  Meters (talk) 05:16, 26 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Please stop doing this. You cannot get the article speedy deleted, and you cannot simply redirect the entire article. Meters (talk) 05:26, 26 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Meters:, @Mazca:, You can read the previous discussion and closing comments yourself. Someone's reading seems to be that the original problem was a lack of news coverage after the incident. Although that concern was raised during the discussion, my own reading is that the major problem was that Ahmed Rajib Haider was a low profile individual notable only for one event. Quite an alphabet soup of policies and guidelines were cited in arguments:
I obviously did read it, or I would not have been referring to in my posts. What is it you are trying to do? First you tried to speedy the article. Then you tried to unilaterally redirect it without merging any content. Then you tried to redirect it after merging content. And finally you opened a second AFD, to argue Keep, Don't redirect or merge
Propose what you want to change here, and wait for other editors to discuss and reach consensus. Meters (talk) 06:15, 26 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Meters:, I am just want to redirect the article but before that an administrator must say something on behalf/against of this; like Ahmed Rajib Haider there were Washiqur Rahman and Faisal Abedin Deepan, whose articles have been redirected (with Attacks by Islamic extremists in Bangladesh) after deletion discussions: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Washiqur Rahman (2nd nomination) and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Faisal Abedin Deepan. Walter Saphron (talk) 06:21, 26 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Please stop pinging me. I am obviously watching this talk page.
I'm sorry, but I do not understand what you are trying to say. Discuss what parts of this article should be merged. If you think the entire article should simply be redirected with no merging then say so and make your case. It is irrelevant whether other articles have been redirected. If there is enough content in this article to justify an article, then it will remain as an article, not a redirect. And it does not require Admins to make that decision. All editors may participate in the discussion.
I'll start off by pointing out that much of the material in "Related attacks" does not belong in this article. Meters (talk) 06:29, 26 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
And that final comment is not a suggestion that you should remove it or merge it. It is simply an observation that other editors need to look a the section.I would strongly suggest that you not make any further edits to the article until consensus is reached here.Meters (talk) 06:34, 26 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I think the whole article should be deleted and redirected to Attacks by Islamic extremists in Bangladesh, the person was not notable at all, he was not a book writer also. Walter Saphron (talk) 06:49, 26 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Then the discussion is simple. It's not going to happen that way. The AFD did not close as Delete, and it did not close as Redirect. It closed as Keep with a suggestion that some of the content might be merged, and that after merging a decision could be made as to whether there was enough material left to justify keeping the article.
And why did you open a second AFD asking to Keep the article without redirecting or merging? Meters (talk) 07:00, 26 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
2nd nomination's purpose was to see that if clearer discussions than before comes, that's it. Walter Saphron (talk) 07:09, 26 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The discussion above is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

Multiple attempts to remove this article[edit]

This article has been repeatedly put up for AFD and speedy deletion and redirected, several times by socks of the same globally banned user. Per the close of the first AFD and the above discussion by user:mazca, the way forward is to first deal with the extraneous content, and then look at what's left with regard to keeping or merging/redirecting. I have no particular interest in this article (I have never edited it other than wrt to undoing the speedy request and unilateral redirect mentioned in the above thread), but I'll get this started since I was pinged to another AFD on it and I see that four months later this is still in the same state.

First, it appears to me that the "Related attacks" section has too much information. Since his "murder is seen as part of a larger attack against atheist and secularist bloggers" we should mention the larger context, but most of the content is actually details about Asif Mohiuddin.
