POV[edit]

A few phrases spring to mind as being POV:

  • " devoted to and inspired by"
  • "honed a visionary blend of abstraction and representation with nature as his primary subject."
  • "The works he created throughout the 1970s and the rest of his life capture deeper, more personal encounters with nature"
  • "Gussow severed his gallery connection upon returning home and began to experiment with art as a process instead of as a product".

Etc. Needs serious work. Looks like it's written by himself or a relative. The Rambling Man (talk) 00:12, 4 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Above comment is largely correct. The writer does not know that Gussow died without ever sending an email, let alone editing a Wikipedia entry. That leaves relatives, which are very few. As one of them, I would put at 90% the chance that none of us has touched this entry. A FAR more likely set of authors would be the gallery that bought most of his work after his death and has been flogging it ever since. Their name is Driscoll Babcock Galleries. They hired a long-time admirer of Gussow to write and edit a very large monograph, entitled "Alan Gussow: A Painter's Nature" that is available on Amazon. That author and/or the gallery are almost certainly the source of words like "honed" that the commenter flagged. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.213.13.81 (talk) 21:33, 29 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
