Alba also a Scottish name[edit]

In the case of my great-grandfather's niece, Alba Nowland Countryman was named 'Alba' after Scotland, not the Italian name meaning "the dawn". In Michigan and parts of Canada, 'Alba' is pronounced "AL-bee". Likewise, to other cousins had the names "Iva" and "Ira", which were pronounced as though they were spelled "Ivy" and "Irey".
