Contradictory[edit]

It says in section Albanians in the United Kingdom#Social issues that Albanians seeking asylum in the UK regularly cite blood feuds as the reason that it is unsafe for them to return to Albania. The number of Albanian asylum applicants rose from 173 in 2008 to 1,809 in 2015. The vast majority of these applications are rejected. However, earlier on in the article in Albanians in the United Kingdom#History it says In the second quarter of 2022, Albanians became the largest nationality group claiming asylum in the UK, with applications from 3,289 people. 53% of Albanian asylum seekers' claims were granted in an initial decision in the year to June 2022. I feel that the two possibilities are the rate of granting asylum to Albanians rose sharply between 2015 and 2022, or that the citation for 2015 is specifically related to those claiming asylum based on blood feuds. Confusion over subject of article[edit]

The article's opening line is "Albanians in the United Kingdom include immigrants from Albania and ethnic Albanians from Kosovo", but the infobox is labelled "Albanian nationals in the United Kingdom" (which I presume excludes most ethnic Albanians from Kosovo - or am I wrong on that?). The population figures in the infobox are a range of community estimates from a report that covers people from Albania and Kosovo, the number of people born in Albania recorded in the 2011 census (in England only, not the whole of the UK), and a 2021 ONS estimate of the number of Albanian nationals in the UK. These are all different things, suggesting that clarification is needed on what the subject of the article is and also that when figures are specified, it's made clear what they relate to. I've removed the England-only figure from the infobox as a starting point. Cordless Larry (talk) 08:19, 28 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The next sentence referring to "Albanian nationals" would refer to Albanians who hold Albanian citizenship as defined by the ONS figures. It would therefore exclude ethnic Albanians who do not hold Albanian citizenship. This is the standard across the template on British people. I will add further clarity in the infobox. I have re-added in the 2011 census data (to include all regions of the UK) as this is the only definitive data source and again, is present across other wikipedia pages using the template. Thanks. I've tried to further clarify the infobox figures. Cordless Larry (talk) 14:10, 28 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies, it seems an edit-conflict has taken place. For the purposes of standardisation, I have used the same language that is present across other Wikipedia pages on non-UK nationalities residing in the UK which has changed your edits. If you disagree, and do not believe it provides sufficient clarity, feel free to change again. I have also added a further source on the number of ethnic nationalities although I am not sure on its reliability. I am unable to find an independent source from the Albanian government which confirms this figure but have included it as multiple media sources have quoted the Albanian PM. Kioj156 (talk) 14:34, 28 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think this way of presenting the figures is a good one, but the 21,000 figure isn't for Albanian-born residents but rather Albanian nationals. Cordless Larry (talk) 14:45, 28 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much for pointing that out, I have revised my most recent edit. Kioj156 (talk) 15:59, 28 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
On the 140,000 figure, Reuters is a reliable source but I don't see where in the source that it's specified that this is an estimate of ethnic Albanians (it seems more likely to be Albanian nationals). Cordless Larry (talk) 14:49, 28 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
