No longer a provincial highway[edit]

Highway 69 no longer graces Alberta Transportation's map of highways within in the 1-216 series. Based on this and this it appears the earliest this could have occurred is January 30, 2014. I believe it was still on the 2014 version of the 1-216 highway series map though, so it appears the downloading of the highway occurred sometime between March 2014 and March 2015. According to that news article, the province no longer maintains it. But on the RMWB website it is still labelled 69 here and here. A city and national park can designate a highway without the province maintaining it, perhaps USAs can as well? 117Avenue (talk) 04:20, 17 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Second map was prepared in December 2013. The former highway number is going to linger on for years and decades on maps and even signs. Highway 814 from 41 Avenue SW through Beaumont to Highway 625 is still signed as such by the Town of Beaumont despite it being downloaded to them by the province in 1999/2000. Like in most cities, highways within urban service areas are the responsibility of the municipality, but the entirety of Highway 69 has been de-designated, including the portion beyond the Fort McMurray urban service area boundary. Sorry, I must not be seeing what you are seeing. 69 is no longer on the Alberta Transportation map you provided, which means it is no longer maintained by the province. And the news article you provided says that the RMWB now owns the road. But where are you seeing that it has been de-designated? 117Avenue (talk) 01:52, 20 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
