Series[edit]

Alcatraz was picked up for 12 episodes in March. It is a television series.—Preceding unsigned comment added by JimmyDarmodyRules (talkcontribs) 21:27, May 1, 2011

That's great. Please provide a reliable source. Thanks. --Logical Fuzz (talk) 22:48, 1 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, will do. Also why are you highlighting things that don't have a page..? It makes no sense. e.g. Steven Lilien. It looks terrible. —Preceding unsigned comment added by JimmyDarmodyRules (talkcontribs) 15:14, 2 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Main Cast[edit]

I don't see a source for the main cast billing order, and as far as the first 2 episodes go, it's wrong. Episode 2 has: Sarah Jones, Jorge Garcia, Jonny Coyne, Parminder Nagra, Jason Butler Harner, "and Sam Neill" (who, I suppose, is right to be considered third billed in this sense). No mention of Forster or Cabrera. Kumagoro-42 03:58, 21 January 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kumagoro-42 (talkcontribs)

I'm not sure exactly where the information came from, but Fox's website has the two listed along with all the others in their cast section ([1]). It's possible they just haven't appeared on the show yet. Kevinbrogers (talk) 04:01, 21 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Cabrera portrayed the uniformed officer who spoke to Rebecca (Jones) at the Tiller murder scene; Forster portrayed Rebecca's surrogate uncle, who was tending bar.--Gaarmyvet (talk) 14:11, 22 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm thinking that the list of returned inmates and guards should be under some other heading than "Recurring". Yes, they are recurring roles, but that title isn't really fitting. Maybe call it "The 63's" and have categories for true guest stars and recurring roles such as key SFPD personnel. 71.203.154.113 (talk) 04:53, 15 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Agree. Also, the Main Cast should be taken from the beginning of the episodes which doesn't list Cabrera nor Rippy. Most shows have "title cards" which list the Mains. This show lists them after the title card. I quit messing with Cast Lists long ago, because people kept changing them. — WylieCoyote (talk) 01:23, 16 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I changed it to reflect the proper appearances in the show. Sam Neill is always shown last in the opening main character credits, as more popular stars are, but I think the character he plays is more important to the show. — WylieCoyote (talk) 02:16, 18 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
In the most recent episode available on Hulu, Sarah Jones, Jorge Garcia, Jonny Coyne, Parminder Nagra, and Jason Butler Harner were listed as starring; Robert Forster and Sam Neill were listed as "with." Leon Rippy is a perennial guest star. Santiago Cabrera has not appeared or been credited since episode one; the most recent episode when Rebecca spoke with members of the SFPD would have been a great place for "Jimmy" to at least show up if the producers intended Cabrera to be a viable member of the cast. I wonder if he wasn't included in the original cast list for the "hunk factor." Cabrera's page has not even been updated to reflect Alcatraz as being past "In-production."--Gaarmyvet (talk) 18:31, 19 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That's why I wish the show would list the "stars" in the title card. Sam Neill has been in every episode which is not considered "recurring." I think Forster and Neill are big-name stars, which is why they are listed last in the credits, like Jessica Lange in American Horror Story. As for Cabrera in the show, he briefly appears in the pilot and in an upcoming episode so I moved him. Regarding his "page," I've seen complete seasons being over before anyone updates the cast indiv pages. — WylieCoyote (talk) 03:19, 20 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've officially quit editing the cast list. People, namely Cliff03, keep putting future inmates in the cast list. Why list people who haven't even been in the series yet...? Just to be "first?" I quit. — WylieCoyote (talk) 21:45, 21 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

you can add norway and tv norge[edit]

the date the series will air is still a mystery though. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.208.59.120 (talk) 22:04, 22 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Mistake[edit]

It has the Cal Sweeny episode list as the original air date of Feb but yet the episodes original air date was 1/30/2012. 159.121.4.169 (talk) 19:02, 31 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"Featured guests" cast list[edit]

I've taken it upon myself to add Jeananne Goossen to this list under a new sub-category of "Others." She plays Nikki -- the ME at the morgue -- who seems to be developing into something of a love interest for Doc Soto. She's already been in two episodes and is listed as appearing in the next one, too (on Feb. 27, 2012), so I think she warrants inclusion at this point. -- Entrybreak (talk) 22:15, 21 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Funny. A sub-cat called "Others" about characters on a show from the creator of LOST. I still think the characters should be listed as "Main," "Supporting," and "Minor," until we see those who have been in more than one or two episodes return. The "Inmates", "Guards", and "Others" are unnecessary. — WylieCoyote (talk) 02:26, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, as soon as I typed that, I chuckled about it, too. :o) As far as renaming the cast categories, your suggestions work for me. --Entrybreak (talk) 22:13, 24 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Real?[edit]

I want to know if the characters are based on real inmates. i cant find any evidence or indication of this so far.... 123.98.136.3 (talk) 10:42, 27 February 2012 (UTC) CILSTR[reply]

I also would like to know this. My (very) brief research indicates that they probably aren't real, but they could just be really non-notable inmates too. 216.236.254.2 (talk) 22:48, 27 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The only talk I've heard from J. J. Abrams about the show's origins is this from January 8, 2012 (http://www.buzzsugar.com/Alcatraz-TV-Show-TCA-Interviews-21226922): "Producers want to employ the rich mythology of The Rock, but Abrams lamented that the island's most famous prisoners, Al Capone and Machine Gun Kelly, were transferred far before the '60s, the time frame the series flashes back to. It's 'definitely a bummer they weren't there to time travel' like the other inmates we'll meet, but Abrams noted that since they're already doing flashbacks, 'who's to say we can't flash back further?'" I'll keep looking and add it to the Production section if I find better "origin" links.— WylieCoyote (talk) 02:01, 28 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Clarence Montgomery episode[edit]

Article says "This episode was scheduled to premiere on February 27, 2012, however got rescheduled due to the weather delay of the 2012 Daytona 500.". I saw the episode, it was not rescheduled, but broadcast delayed. It's possible it was canceled for some viewing areas. Maybe the note should be reworded? 76.164.65.219 (talk) 23:07, 5 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

See www.thefutoncritic.com/showatch/alcatraz/listings/ for some interesting details of broadcasting scheduling and changes, and episode numbering... Everyone agrees that "Clarence Montgomery" comes before Ames & Burnett episodes. And in most of the US, they will be shown out-of-order, Ames & Burnett on 5 Mar and Montgomery next week on 12 Mar. But in other countries like Canada they showed Montgomery first, in proper order? When were which eps made available online, where?-71.174.176.38 (talk) 14:27, 6 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I personally think, when shows air in the country of origin, that should be the order it should be listed on Wiki. They don't have NASCAR in Canada, so the episode in question got shown there or online. Here in the States, it wasn't shown on its original day (I don't think), so should be put and left on the rescheduled date. As for episode numbers, those should be taken from the end credits of the episode and not some online TV listing. (Note the differences in ours and Futon Critics). On FOX.com, it mentions that some tweaking had to be done on the Bros. & Burnett episode to accommodate the disruption. — WylieCoyote (talk) 16:46, 6 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Note has been changed too "This episode was scheduled to premiere in the US on February 27, 2012, however got rescheduled due to the weather delay of the 2012 Daytona 500." Since this show first aired in the US we go in order of how the episodes aired. Since it did get rescheduled, we put it at the new date of March 12th. - Alec2011 (talk) 21:41, 11 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
If CM was shown first in some places, and A&B were "tweaked" in places where CM had not been shown -- then, was a non-tweaked version of A&B shown where CM had already been shown? Has CM been tweaked, are there two versions of it?-96.237.7.195 (talk) 22:35, 12 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'm in the USA and heard where both The Ames Brothers and Sonny Burnett were "tweaked" in order to cover what hasn't been seen yet in Clarence Montgomery. It's a safe bet CM has been "tweaked" as well, and, therefore, has two versions. I would also venture to say that IF this show is released on DVD, it will be in correct order, with CM before TAB and SB. — WylieCoyote (talk) 00:30, 13 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
If some episodes were "tweaked" and the correct episode order is the actual in this article, why Alcatraz web site shows other? I belive that airing date shouldnt be a parameter for the order. Put the episode in the correct place this article doesnt reflects the official information, where is the evidence of the tweak? if not the episodes should be in the correct order. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.141.47.43 (talk) 07:26, 4 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Finale "car chase"[edit]

The Mustang car chase seen in the finale is not plagiarism as claimed in the article. It is clearly stated on http://www.fox.com/alcatraz/ford/ that is an homage to the classic Bullet scene, and was carefully & meticulously re-created for the finale. There is a behind-the-scenes video on the Fox website in which they discuss watching the chase scene in Bullet multiple times to get it right. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.51.147.104 (talk) 04:19, 27 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed, and the original movie is also spelled wrong in the article. It's "Bullitt" not Bullet. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.89.9.69 (talk) 04:28, 27 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks to you both and for catching this. As I watched it last night I knew it had to be an homage to that famous chase scene - Especially when the same green Volkswagon was seen a second time. Looks like the whole section was added by an SPA with an axe to grind so thanks to the editor(s) who removed it. That is the kind of mention that could go in an article for the individual episode but it is beyond the scope of this article. MarnetteD | Talk 19:58, 27 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
This is an article about the SERIES. If you want to include "cultural references" within the episodes, may I suggest you write EPISODE articles? — WylieCoyote (talk) 00:30, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Is that not what I suggested? Also is shouting necessary? The IPs, neither of which are regular contributors, were reacting to an OTT attack by an SPA. MarnetteD | Talk 15:16, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, MarnetteD. I wasn't necessarily "shouting", just trying to prove a point that you made. (I would've underlined it as well!) Some editors find it easier to piggyback articles like these, rather than do it on their own. That's happened a lot lately, mainly on shows that don't make it past their freshman season. — WylieCoyote (talk) 21:13, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your reply. You are right about the piggybacking. We also get lots of "make this change and/or do the research for me" messages which can be frustrating. Hang in there and cheers. MarnetteD | Talk 22:50, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Some fan sites say she drove the same car as Steve McQueen in the chase, but it was a blue mustang she drove. She did however arrive at the crime scene in a green Mustang reg 60SM168 which looks like an original. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.30.26.188 (talk) 09:20, 7 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Cancelled or renewed?[edit]

Hello, I saw there were some controversial edits which claimed Alcatraz was cancelled (and were reverted). Does anyone have any reliable news? --Simo94 / discuss 13:32, 26 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Beth Shady just posted an hour ago that it has been cancelled. Perhaps wait for verification, but it seems likely that it's done. Bmeckel (talk) 03:21, 10 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
saw these things...canceled 1, and cancel 2, and cancel 3. Fyunck(click) (talk) 05:23, 10 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it's over. Has been cited and noted in the main article. — WylieCoyote (talk) 17:22, 11 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sci-fi?[edit]

Is it really sci-fi? According to imdb (and a friend of mine), it is not. Tkalmi (talk) 20:36, 27 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
