Parents are not Italian immigrants[edit]

Her parents are not even remotely close to being Italian immigrants.

Her mother was born in the U.S., to (American-born) parents of Polish descent. Here is the obituary of her maternal grandfather, Stanley A. Glow (originally Stanley Glowczewski). And here is the obituary of her maternal grandmother, Dorothy M. Kaminski Glow. The first obit mentions Alessandra Torresani and the second obit mentions Alessandra Toreson.

As for her father, he was born James Sylvester Toreson in Michigan. It does not appear that he is of Italian descent either (his parents were James Toreson and Ruth Babcock). All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 08:09, 8 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Of course it's wrong. Sources like that are wrong all the time. The New York Times is wrong. No source is too reputable to be wrong, especially about matters like these, which can be of fairly trivial importance to most people. What are the odds that there is another Alessandra Torresani living in California whose mother is also named Marcia Glow? Peoplefinders and Mylife turn up no other matches. Aside from that, Torresani has hilariously called herself "half Jewish" and "Italian and Jewish". Maybe she thinks that her maternal Polish Catholic grandparents were Jewish somehow? Because neither of her parents are Jewish at all. In short, Torresani's background is sort of inexplicable - I don't know if she ever explained why she changed the name from "Toreson"? I would have deleted all references to her background from this page a long time ago myself, but then I saw that you were hanging around this page - and you insisted, and presumably still do, on saying that Michael Lohan was born in Ireland, even though he obviously wasn't and the only sources that claim so are British tabloids, which aren't reliable at all. This is the point at which Wikipedia:Ignore all rules comes in, except I don't even think we're ignoring any rules here, or on Lohan. Both the Irish birthplace and the Midwest, U.S.A.-born Italian immigrant parents should be removed from the respective entries. There is no useful purpose in spreading false information, that will then turn up in other "reliable sources", that will then be used to source this article. I know this is 9 years old, but if she's claiming to be whatever ancestry and websites like AMC are supporting those claims, I don't see why we can't add that to her article unless reliable, third-party sources debunk her claims. Though I don't really care if its left out. Primary sources should not be used for a BLP, as well as genealogical websites like Ancestry.com. Many people lie about their ethnic background or they're not aware of their actual origins. Look at Johnny Depp. In a country like the United States, where many people are the descendants of people from all over the world, it doesn't seem surprising that many may fabricate or only mention one or two ethnicities when asked about their background.
