Splitting without consultation[edit]

Hi there,

Not a pretty sight to see in my watchlist this evening, unfortunately. While I can understand how large the E400 City section has gotten, and while I can understand a need to split Alexander Dennis Enviro400 MMC down to size, next time you do this, could you please consider following WP:SPLIT next time?

I am not an admin and do not want to backseat in the slightest, but not only have you suddenly split the article without consulting the opinions of users - I would have supported such a move and provided feedback to help you along - the resulting split is a bit messy, i.e. you have left the Enviro400 Virtual Electric section in under the Enviro400 EV/ER section, which shouldn't fall under an article for the City, and you have left all the City images on the MMC article - and you might have technically violated Wikipedia's attribution guidelines by copying sections in without "split content from [article name]" in the edit summary.

I don't mean to sound petty, but as someone who has patiently waited for consensus to merge an article, please let other users know if you propose to make big removals and page moves like this next time, and please make sure you do it correctly. Hullian111 (talk) 18:56, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

In the editor's defence, WP:BOLD probably applies fairly easily here, although they should have done a cleaner job of the split and, for sure, the attribution. Buttons0603 (talk) 20:20, 11 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Splitting proposal[edit]

I propose that the section about the 'EV' range (e.g. Enviro400EV, Enviro400FCEV, maybe Enviro400ER?) be split into a separate page called Alexander Dennis Enviro400EV.

With Alexander Dennis seemingly producing the EV range as its own standalone product now, especially given the fact they have released a second-generation restyled body only marginally related to the City, it may be time to spin the EV section from here into its own article.

The content of the sections take up nearly half the main article, and the sections are large and well-sourced enough to make its own page. {{Alexander Dennis}} treats them as separate entities too, so it would help to fit flush with the other pages.

My only question is as to whether this splitting proposal may be slightly premature? Should the page be split now or split later when a much larger set of orders for the second-generation EVs come in? Hullian111 (talk) 20:48, 30 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Hullian111 I am not sure exactly what you're proposing but if you haven't already I would just go for it Garuda3 (talk) 21:50, 8 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, forgive me, I tend to go wordy - the split has already been done, I was just wondering whether the bus was notable enough yet to justify its own page. With the new-gen E400EV coming, I suspect it may well be now to warrant its own page. Hullian111 (talk) 21:52, 8 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
