This page desperately needs sources.

The last para may be true, but on its face it looks like some kind of urban legend, ie, isn't it ironic that the inventor of the hypodermic syringe should have, in effect, killed his own wife by creating the device in the first place.

As for priority, it really doesn't matter if an Irish patent exists; Wood and Pravaz actually made and used the devices, and Wood even published a paper on how to use the syringe. Keep in mind too, that in the mid-nineteenth century, Eire was administratively part of Great Britain, which means that an Irish patent office may not in fact have existed, making that claim too, a mere urban legend. I'd say this page should be deleted until it can be thoroughly fact-checked and re-written.

References have been added. According to the sources I cited, Rynd didn't publish his method until after Wood, and besides, it's not particularly relevant to this article. It really belongs in hypodermic needle but that article doesn't have a "History" section. howcheng {chat} 22:47, 30 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
