Request for Comments, September 2011[edit]

I'm requesting comments on this article to clear away any possible conflict-of-interest issues as soon as possible. Please add comments in a subsection here.

I submit that this article conforms to Wikipedia's standards for neutrality, verifiability, and notability:

Neutrality
The original author (VeronicaBrownAtl) is an independent contractor. Though hired by AlgoSec, the service I provide is to provide a buffer of objectivity, as well as to research the verifiable sources for the article.
Verifiability
Every statement in the article has a cited reference from a trade journal. References are authored or edited by neutral journalists and analysts.
Notability
AlgoSec is a direct competitor, offering products that perform the same functions, as the following vendors who have published Wikipedia articles about similar products. Adding "AlgoSec" to Wikipedia validates the notability (and increases the overall neutrality) of Wikipedia's coverage of this market space:

I welcome any comments that will help improve the article and prevent any flags for conflict of interest. Many thanks. Originally posted: 14:22, 29 September 2011 (UTC) User rename: AveryTwelve (talk) 18:16, 8 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I am concerned that no source mentions this corporation in the level of detail required to write a comprehensive article about it. For instance, when was it founded? Where can that information be found? If the company is so notable, why isn't that information readily available? Hipocrite (talk) 20:02, 30 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Generally the content does not make much of a case for the company's notability.
    • The section on firewall management is superfluous.
    • The names of the products are not important. What makes the products unique might be useful information. What algorythms do they use? What approaches do they employ?
    • The external links except the link to AlgoSec's web site are inappropriate or redundant.
    • I think this needs more work if it's to be accepted as more than promotion. Jojalozzo 15:34, 1 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Agree that the section on firewall management needs to go. There's a mention of it in the lede that can probably be linked to Distributed firewall, maybe to the management section? I did some cleanup of the EL section. Some of the others might be viable as references if they have new information. Concur with some of the comments on the products. With only two major products, mentioning them is useful. Adding something about what makes them unique in the market, if there is something, could be good information. About the Original Author[edit]

This article's original author, AveryTwelve, is a writer who is under contract by AlgoSec. I intend to write this article entirely from notable sources, in keeping with Wikipedia's guidelines. I will add requests for edits and comments as substantial content is added. Updated (new user name): AveryTwelve (talk) 18:12, 8 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Firewall Management section deleted[edit]

I removed the firewall management section since it is tangential to the subject of the article, covers material that belongs elsewhere, and distracts from the topic. I think the article is now a better presentation of the company. Jojalozzo 16:30, 5 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Agree about "Firewall Management" in light of this discussion. For the time being, there is no consensus in this industry on what to call this technology, but vendors and analysts are working on that. Meanwhile, the closest article I have seen is network security policy. AveryTwelve (talk) 18:25, 8 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

COI template[edit]

I removed the COI template, since I don't see a significant expression of COI that requires clean-up. Of course it can be reinstated if needed, but that should only happen if the COI can't be trivially resolved. Rich Farmbrough, 22:40, 20 October 2011 (UTC).[reply]
