Re: Sir?[edit]

It may be a hereditary title (see his parents' own titles).Mottstreetsara

No. Knighted in 2003 "for services to Franco-British relations" per Debretts... or just google for articles which mention it. --gobears87 (talk) 20:35, 9 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

deleted advert from main article[edit]

On Monday, April 30, 2007, the 81-year old, Sir Alistair Horne, will be making a rare appearance at the Berkeley Hillside club to meet with UC Berkeley historians to discuss his insights on the Algerian War and lessons the U.S. administration should draw upon. C-SPAN is planning to tape and televise the discussion.

if you are going to put something like that in wikipedia, at least put a current event box over it. --Jaibe 08:47, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Add legacy section?[edit]

Anyone up for adding a section? This REALLY should be in his article already, considering it has been going for 50+ years... Sir Alistair sponsored a fellowship at St Antony's College, Oxford.: https://www.sant.ox.ac.uk/current-members/senior-members/visiting-fellowships/alistair-horne-fellowship-further-particulars [I'm too tired of editing to add myself, and besides it's a conflict of interest.] --gobears87 (talk) 02:17, 29 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Updated link as the above is inactive until they readvertise: https://www.sant.ox.ac.uk/current-members/senior-members/visiting-fellowships --gobears87 (talk) 00:46, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Can I get an image of Alastair Horne so everyone knows what he looks like[edit]

I would like to know because last time I got blocked from Wikipedia — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dylan mlg (talkcontribs) 22:06, 29 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I can't add one as I don't know the rules about using photos from the web and I didn't take a photo of him alive. But here's some links which should maybe be in his article too if they aren't: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/05/30/books/alistair-horne-dead-british-war-historian.html and https://images4.penguinrandomhouse.com/author/13517 and https://www.theguardian.com/books/2017/may/31/sir-alistair-horne-obituary includes https://i.guim.co.uk/img/media/051d6c23a0567b1e5727d25e44c3316ad2110c2a/0_215_4256_2553/master/4256.jpg?width=445&quality=45&auto=format&fit=max&dpr=2&s=f379cd04a26590139525d93d58b0d897 --gobears87 (talk) 00:50, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
