"Nom d'un chien!"[edit]

There's a hilarious little foreshadowing in the story when the captain asks the French cook about what the "offog" is, and the cook replies "Nom d'un chien!", which is a French exclamation (roughly equivalent to "damnit!"), but literally means "Name of a dog!", which incidentally what the offog is. // Gargaj (talk) 20:12, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that too. Also, the very next items on the list are the dog's appurtenances. And the typo isn't there on the captain's copy.
