1969 fire[edit]

During a preseason game against the Washington Redskins, the grandstand caught on fire. It was quite spectacular, as I recall, even on black-and-white TV. Flames all over tplace, fans fleeing to the field level, &c. I would expect there'd be an archived account in one of the local newspapers. Malbuff (talk) 20:40, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why isn't this the disambig page?[edit]

With such a common name, this should be a disambiguation page. There are also Alumni Stadium (Delaware State), Albert J. Sloan-Alumni Stadium and Alumni Stadium (BJU)—not to mention the redirect of Alumni Stadium (Kean University) that could have its own page if someone were to create it—but none of those can be easily found just by going to "Alumni Stadium". I propose a disambig page. Jrcla2 (talk) 16:58, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to such a change, although it does appear that this Alumni Stadium is the most notable and per WP:PT could probably retain its title and simply offer a hatnote linking to a new Alumni Stadium (disambiguation) page where the list of similarly-named stadia could be hosted. But turning this page into the disambiguation page and moving its content to something like Alumni Stadium (Boston College) could be an option. WildCowboy (talk) 18:34, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

YES I agree that this should be a disambiguation page. Although Boston College may or may not have the most notable Alumni Stadium, there are numerous others in addition to Delaware State, Miles College, and Bob Jones University listed above including UMass (Warren McGuirk Alumni Stadium), South Dakota State (Coughlin Alumni Stadium), Kean University (Kean Alumni Stadium), Tuskegee University (Cleveland Leigh Abbott Memorial Alumni Stadium), and Livingstone College (Alumni Memorial Stadium). I'm sure you could find many more if anyone cared to look around.Superman7515 (talk) 02:16, 22 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose – To be honest with you the only one of those three colleges (much less their stadium) that I've even heard of is Delaware State. Of those four stadiums with this exact name, Boston College is clearly the most notable. The others mentioned above (UMass et al) are not only less notable than BC's, but are not actually named "Alumni Stadium". A hatnote to the disambiguation page is all that I think is needed here. Revised opinion – About a day or so after posting this inquiry I actually realized that it would be probably unnecessary to move this page. I also now think that an {{otheruses|Alumni Stadium}} tag would work just fine. Jrcla2 (talk) 16:57, 27 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
