CounterPunch source[edit]

I have serious concerns about the reliability and independence of the CounterPunch source this article relies on so heavily. The author, Max Kantar, is the Midwest representative for the Committee to Free Alvaro Luna Hernandez, which appears to be a clear conflict of interest. Even if the source is reliable by our standards, it is not independent, which means that the subject does not appear to meet our notability criteria. --Dr. Fleischman (talk) 17:34, 24 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

For that matter, I can find no evidence that Kantar has any journalism credentials. He has been in the news for throwing an apple pie at Carl Levin, and is described as an antiwar activist. --Dr. Fleischman (talk) 18:07, 24 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I've added another source (it's in spanish, sorry folks) for Hernandez' jailhouse lawyering. The Mint Press article also talks about more of the stuff I'm citing the CounterPunch piece for than I've currently got it marked with, so I'll mark some of those. Added a radio piece talking about it. Seylerius (talk) 18:38, 24 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Seylerius, you need to explain why you think the CounterPunch source is reliable. Otherwise we should remove it. --Dr. Fleischman (talk) 00:23, 28 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Added two book sources and another article. Removed the offending Kantar piece where other citations were clearer or otherwise more robust. Profcrisp (talk) 07:15, 6 August 2015 (UTC)profcrisp[reply]
